I don’t think this one was an inside job, but statistically at least a few almost certainly have been. In those cases, I wonder how they get the gunmen to go along. Intimidation? Bribery? Grooming?

I wouldn't be surprised. Yarvin is something of a social gadfly, and quite different in intimate social settings than his public persona suggests. He gets around quite a bit. Why he's chosen to make his public persona a long-winded and somewhat tedious obscurantist when he's actually very witty and pithy in conversation is beyond me.

It is interesting how collected he appeared as people were noticing him. Some people can do better than you'd expect under extreme pressure. He would have known he had no chance of escaping so if he cracked and tried to run his only possible future could be life in prison. In that case he may as well try to carry on and take his shot, he must have resigned himself to dying already.
