The problem with that is you can only maintain credibility as a proxy-leader so long as you appear to support the interests of those you lead. Union leaders, at least in traditionally blue collar trades, may have to cave to the pressure from their rank-and-file who are more ideologically aligned with Trump on immigration and social issues.

Of course, teachers unions, service workers unions, etc i.e. non-skilled labor trade unions will remain gay retarded commies. They matter less anyway, skilled trade unionists make better money and are more politically engaged than they/them "unionists" selling croissants at the local coffee co-op or stocking shelves at the local gay book store. The Dems rely heavily on organizations like the steelworkers union to do a lot of their canvassing in the midwest.

If Trump manages to steal this castle from the Dems he achieves the best sort of victory by weakening his opponent and strengthening his own coalition in one move. Then they're donating to and canvassing for his campaign instead of Biden's, and whats more they actually believe in their candidate. The difference between a motivated door-knocker and one just putting in their hours is actually enormous.
