What would you say the criteria for being successfully assimilated Western values and culture is?

I think as long as there is a formal understanding that one group is dominant and that its culture, folkways, faith and language will be the foundation of the country then polite and well-behaved houseguests of other groups are perfectly fine. The problem is the fake gay promise of civic nationalism making people think the co-existence of different nations in one nation-state as co-equals is anything but a recipe for disaster.

I'm always torn on unions because getting their people paid is good but existing to shield the absolute worst of your coworkers is not. And the fact that they were horrifyingly corrupt once they got unassailable power.

I think the traditional model of unions as a collective of skilled-workers in the same trade has some merit. It descends from the model of the ancient guild. It is extremely economically inefficient, but economic rationalization has wrought manmade horrors beyond our comprehension so trading a little prosperity to vest power in non-governmental structures close to the people is a fair trade imo.

Mass/international unions for McDonalds workers and the like, as well as government unions, are just the result of commies institution building. They are there to calcify power into resilient structures that can be used long-term to support leftist political goals. The right should try doing something similar sometime.
