It's because most people don't actually follow Boogie. They just read a headline that says "Boogie has cancer" and they go: "makes sense". And if there is a convenient link to his GoFuckMe fund they will throw some bucks his way. After all what kind of monster would lie about one of the worst medical conditions for pity bucks.
The way Boogie has fucked up the scam is by trying to retroactively justify his bad acts with the cancer. When he painted a target on his back with the crypto scam it's normal for people to tear down his defenses before going in for the kill.

I think he proved with Bunjeee if someone says something he doesn't like, he has no problem just kicking them immediately. I think everyone assumed that Boogie would have ran away again apparently he doesn't have to, Gnome will kick them on Boogie's behalf.
