I mean, they aren't stupid. They aren't even a "they" so much as it's a life experience that many women share.

To be related to is to be understood. To be understood is to have agency. We might call it pandering, but the thought is "Hey you, we know you exist, and you will be in our minds."

Women want to be heard. Lara Trump, her position as co-chair, and her speech are all taking a shot at letting suburban women know they're represented in this coming government.

I was thinking about this topic today.

I can believe that resources were spread thin, people goofed off.

The local swat decided to just chill in the building.

As others have pointed there cloud be a case of security failures that have been going on for some time and you got a cascade

But the slope story is such fucking bullshit. The fact the story is being made up, I know at high levels in organization they self select for people who will not admit fault. But its such a bad look.

lets check how these story play out.

story 1: We totally were suppose to have a security detail on the roof but at the last minute the swat decided to just secure the building from the inside due to heat.

story 2: We thought the slop was too steep so for safety reason they werent on the roof.

story 3: The people who were suppose to be on the roof didnt show up, we are looking into it right now.

Honestly story 3 could work....just have it be a "communication" error like the team got cancled but thought the people knew they cancled etc

Suburban housewife/mother here.

I don't give a rat's ass about representation, personally.

That said, a lot of women, in fact, do. Women tend to appeal to emotions. Don't get me wrong, I'm wired the same way, but I get emotional about different things.

For instance, my emotions are appealed to when people talk about those who suffered from the horrible covid policies (especially children), and I get emotional whenever I see the families of victims of illegal immigrants speak. When these things are brought up as things in this country that need to be fixed, then I feel like I'm being understood (like you said).

I get why Lara Trump said what she said at the end. It makes sense, because a lot of suburban wives/moms appeal to that kind of stuff. That said, a lot of the other stuff that was covered at the convention tonight appealed to my personal emotions more.
