Funny thing is, I was completely unaware of PA having ANY rifle teams. They are a blue state, with Union and literally next door to NY. Hunting season is regulated to crossbows vs guns most of the year. So I find it really fucking strange, also considering down here in the south there was basic firearms training with FFA (Future Farmers) with literally 12 gauge back in 80's. But was phased out, especially after the Columbine shooting. FFA still does it in certain states, but not majority blue ones.

Plus I find it hard to believe NRA has trained instructors working WITH School Boards.

The classic description of Pennsylvania is 'Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and Alabama in between'. That's changed a little but not that much. East Stroudsburg despite its general proximity to NYC is in one of those based areas.

And it's common for firearms instructors to be 'NRA Certified'. They're one of a handful of places that issue such credentials.

I've been checking out more interviews with snipers, including ones who have done counter-sniper work and they say that any counter-sniper working an SS detail is cleared to use lethal force on any possible threat at any time. They don't spend half an hour on the radio waiting for a go-ahead from a supervisor. Everything about the way security at the event was handled was so out of line with standard procedure I come to any conclusion other than a conspiracy.

Isn’t it interesting how any other counter-sniper on any other security detail in the world would’ve neutralized this kid before he took the first shot?

His school has said that they have no record of him ever trying out for the varsity shooting team. This comment came from a kid who went to school with him and said he was bullied. Maybe that kid didn't like him or is misremembering, but there are no records of it as far as we know.

He did join a range and was practicing regularly for a year prior to this, so there's that. He was also planning to attend school in the fall, so this wasn't something big-brained ahead of time he'd been working on long term.

In his car, they found explosives, and from all accounts, it looks like he came to attack the crowd, not Trump directly. I don't think he ever thought he'd have a chance to take the shot he did. He just got lucky; history turns on a dime. Always has, always will. Our pattern-seeking brains always want to find things, always want to believe something is in control, instead of a bunch of uncoordinated assholes and one lucky psychopath climbing a ladder that was left out like a red carpet of death waiting for him.

I've always hated this view. When I punch out, and I'm not getting paid, the company should no longer be able to hold me to their standards. If they wish to, they can pay me 24/7.

HOWEVER, I'm not going to shed a tear anymore for people who don't have even the minimum amount of opsec in todays day in age. We've seen this shit happening for close to a decade now. People have sat there, thinking they would always be safe for being "on the right side of history".
