Generation Z, "Ironic" Degeneracy, Sadism, and Discord - Not a fun thread

Manipulation is one hell of a drug but I don't believe for one minute that all of these people were just misguided. Yeah, yeah, bad actors target the vulnerable, I say this myself. But if you don't legit get something out of interacting with weirdos like this in situations you can easily remove yourself from then something worse than just being a social outcast is going on with you. The question is why not just log off, if they're not sociopaths themselves? Maybe they're not natural anti-socials...but they become them.
(Edit: I know some are being blackmailed, but not all are.)

I think a large percentage of this is due to grooming minors at a young age to make them do this type of stuff. Nobody whose brain has formed in a normal, functional household with minimal internet usage will be able to do this type of work without something like blackmail.

Demanding that the govt' implement gratuitous legislation that will only serve to erode what few protections we currently have, is the metaphorical "big pill" solution here.

Conversely, getting Discord shut down and their operations ceased for their blatant failure to safeguard minors is not only less disastrous for Everybody Else, but would also be more feasible to accomplish.

Actually, the solution to a lot of this shit isn't in law IMO. It's in encouraging people to have strong families again and be community minded. And to put aside the mindless consumerism of thinking having a bunch of subscription and vidya games to entertain yourself is more important than spending time with your family or developing skills like DIY stuff around the house or modding your own cars, etc. Largely, people fall into this shit because they don't have much doing on and are doom scrolling, they feel like/are losers, and they get preyed on by bad actors. If they didn't feel the need to seek out the internet as a stand in rather than a supplement to their IRL than you wouldn't hear about this stuff as often and when you did the people involved wouldn't be as widespread.

I think the single greatest thing anyone could do is to just talk to your friends and family about this. Tell them of what's happening, show them if you must, and tell them why this is happening.
Encourage others to keep a lookout for this kind of behavior and not only avoid it, but report it to officials as well.
People just don't understand what is going on because this stuff just isn't super out in the open and is largely hidden from the public eye.
There's the saying; "politics is downstream of culture." You could perhaps brute force a law through the federal level, or maybe get rid of one of these companies, but none of those are permanent solutions. This is only gonna be gone for good if you can convince the public conscience to push back against this, in any way they can.

I'm not 100% sure it's Discord though, probably the general online culture. If it was an e2e encrypted app like Telegram or Signal then it'd probably be worse.

I think Discord caught on because it was a "just works" hybrid of Skype and Teamspeak that had an OK mobile app while still working well on desktop.

discord appeared at the right time and ate the lunch that skype and teamspeak had been mostly ignoring. it's not really about it having something really crazy to it, there exists many alternatives out there, some of which would work way better. it's just that it has captured pretty much everyone and so it's hard to get people to use something else. the VC money's gonna have to run particularly dry before it becomes significant and they're making damn sure you don't feel concerned. network effects are a bitch

Discords that purge chats are always doing one of two things.

1. Online criminal activity
2. Fucking kids

Since I assume this is butthurt from groups who don't like their name mentioned like some internet rumpledtiltskin, I'm going to assume the latter because how DARE an internet forum dedicated to messing with internet retards get in the way of grooming a teenager on the internet?

If it's the former, lol. Use telegram for that dipshit, Discord sells you out for criminal activity.

Some interesting screenshots and images in the HTML files and talk about the community in general. Limited, though.

Alternatively, you can just join the server yourself and look where they're talking.

Why would I do that when I already have someone in the Discord (You) who is willing and has access to chat exporters and is willing to deliver information when asked?

That being said, thank you for following through on the delivery. Could you explain the vouches channel? What are the vouches for? Swats? Doxes? CC/Banks/pulls/botnets? Typically Discords that purge chats and have a vouch channel usually means something illegal is going on that requires "vouches" for the services rendered as to not appear as a glow operation.

Could you also tell me where the Greek Letter Symbology originates from and why the specific terminology of "Global Brigade Entertainment" was chosen?
