I don't know why so many people are pretending not to know what being a (recently) registered Republican means for this person, but I do remember the news stories about a ton of Democrats "registering Republican" so that they could vote for Nimroda instead of Trump in the Republican primary. (You are not required to vote for your registered party in the general, but I kind of think that you should be.)

Hell, it isn't even a new idea. I remember Rush Limbaugh suggested a similar idea back in '08. He called it "Operation Chaos," and it was just as stupid back then.
I don't remember what his exact goal was, (Offhand I think it was to keep Hillary out of office) If so, it still fucking failed, because Obama still won in the long term.

The big thing to do will be to develop some sort of consistent doctrine or agenda everyone can adhere to or stand by. Currently everything right now flows through Trump. He's a very rare type of politician that doesn't come along very often.

Political movements centered around one person historically speaking from time to time have issues surviving in the long-term. There will come a point where another will have to take the reins.

JD honestly gives me great hope. If he gets powerful enough as a VP to:

1. Bring more decent people like him and Trump to the party.
2. Have enough influence to carry on Trump's legacy, giving the party enough time to permanently shift and solidify their new values.

Then I believe we could have some long lasting change.

But as always, winning too much for too long makes people lazy and corrupt, so in a few decades the Republic party will have to get the shit beat out of them, to get their heads straight again. And the cycle goes on.
