I feel like this is a stupid question, and I hate stupid questions, but I will try to answer anyway...
I don't actually live in a state where you even *can* register for a particular party, but the way I understand it, in the states where you can (Such as PA where Crooks lived) it only locks you into which primary you can vote in, but there is nothing forcing you to vote that party in the general, so you could register republican to vote for Nimrod Hailey (because she was a weaker candidate than Trump) and then regardless of whether she won or not, vote for Biden in the general. That's all I got for you though.

But he said we should be required to vote for our own party in the general election. That's dumb. I've voted for Republicans and Democrats in the general. I vote for who I think would best do the job, and that doesn't always fall along my party's lines.

Same way they say that anyone who wanted the 2020 election reviewed is guilty of super treason while ignoring that numerous lefty celebrities made a cringe video in 2016 flat out begging electors not to go along with Trump's election. As I mentioned earlier, they live in a dual reality which allows them to do all the things they accuse their enemies of doing while maintaining the view that they themselves are the Good Guys.
I remember there even being articles flat out encouraging this as a way of stopping the Republicans in the 2022 midterms. It was of course very commonly talked about. But I have even shown those articles recently to people making this retarded argument and they just "well ackshually you're just media illiterate here's what it meant" and go on pretending it doesn't happen and if it does it's a good thing.
