Theory:

Biden endorsing her, but refusing to actually make use of the 25th to make her the ackshul President, fatally damages her before DNC.

He says he thinks she's ready to be President... but he won't make her President. Shit or get off the pot, Joe.

The DNC don't have the balls to knife an incumbent President in the face. A Vice President though? A VP ain't shit.

There will be a anti-Kamala nomination at the DNC and the anti-Kamala candidates will win the nomination.
He can literally just quit his job. The 25th isn't for the president to use himself.

The only way they can do this is with Big Mike. Going with anyone other than Kamala will cause a lot of division within the DNC, especially if they go with someone who is not a minority (black or pseudo-black) woman.
You're going to want someone who is a minority, preferably a minority woman, so you can stoke social division after you lose. If they put Newsom or Hilldawg in there, they'd literally handicapping themselves as they walk into a Trump presidency. But they seem to be in panic mode, so who knows at this point.

You don't even have to go that far. Just tell Ukraine to cede it's right to Crimea (they haven't owned it for almost a decade anyway), and disallow them from becoming a NATO member.
If you have to, let Zelensky become an expat in the U.S. after he finishes being President of Ukraine. Have a little bravado and this would wrap things up neatly (except for the tons of dead Ukrainian and Russians who died for literally nothing).
I think it's really easy to sound "rational" from a comfy position separated from the war but Russia and Ukraine aren't budging because foreigners tell them to. It's their war, no number of "peace summits" will make a former great power saving face and a country convinced its fighting for its identity to stand down.

The problem with that is that its near the 11th hour. Biden needed to drop out back in April AT THE LATEST to give the DNC time to run a proper "fortified" primary to build Kamala up from the base so she would have even a shot in hell of beating Trump or have a proper anti-Kamala take her spot.

There is no time to run a new primary, properly market their candidate, have debates, and hit the campaign trail tour though. The DNC and Biden's handlers simply huffed their farts too hard and bought their own bullshit that Biden wasn't an incredibly unpopular candidate who is mentally incapable of taking a dump on his own let alone running the country until it was shown for all to see in the initial debates. Then Trump Survived the assassination attempt, which Biden's admin was partly responsible for even officially due to SS being understaffed and filled with incompetents at his admins order, which only put the final nail in the coffin.

This was simply put a desperate hail mary by Biden's handlers that has blindsided even the DNC power brokers in order to force them to support Kamala. The fact that the DNC didn't immediately endorse her in a coordinated PR effort says all that needs to be said.
