someone over in the US Politics thread floated the idea of Taylor Swift, but I don't know if she'd be willing to give up her cushy life as a cult leader that easily
The problem with Taylor Swift is that she's never actually run anything. He business is handled by her producers and whatnot. She's just the face of her business. Both Trump and Oprah have at least ran business empires, despite only being tangentially in politics prior to a run for President. So with Swift, it would be merely trying to push her in through clout, with none of the "she'd do a good job" associated with it.
Another problem both Oprah and Swift have is that neither of them have been married or have had kids. It's probably not a deal-breaker anymore, but it's one of those relatively unspoken traditions that a President have a marriage and children (because it shows they have a stake in the future of the country).

The elections are over but there is no democratic nominee.
Good he finally stepped aside, but he should've done this 2+ years ago. And the Dems are unbelievably inept for not teeing up and promoting contenders. That's at Biden's feet, but if a party can't figure out how to plan for possibilities and stealthily get faces out there, they're just hopeless as a party.

holy shit, the Hulkster did it again

First he killed Gawker Media, now he's killed the Democrats.
Someone earlier mentioned Vance has support from Peter Thiel. Gossip sites beware.

Somewhat certain that Joe has some power as the nominee to throw his electors to Kamala so she becomes the nominee. Without some other process that would "release" them for an open convention.

Or some shit. Who knows at this point.
Probably. But she's a terrible pick. Has anyone even seen her in the last 3 years? Has she had any signature initiatives, anything building her cred? Biden seems, despite being, himself, a caretaker President, to have done nothing much to promote her. Veeps do tend to be fairly invisible, but an octogenarian should have been doing real and realistic succession planning. He might live another 20 years, but >80 is too old for the office (and we're going to wind up with one, anyway; imo Trump is too old, too, even if he's more youthful than Biden).

If Kamala were in the private sector and not in politics, she'd probably have been a very good/successful law firm partner (like her husband, who oddly resembles Chuck Schumer) or corporate general counsel. But she's not very compelling as a Presidential candidate, though she will be nominated.

nagging dirty ass hoe
Explain?

So, which DNC masterminds thought it was a good idea to push this? This strategy would’ve made more sense late 2023/early 2024, but trying it now is just haphazard. Whatever short term gain they get by not having Biden will be overshadowed by running a candidate people don’t know very well, or do know, but don’t like. I can’t think of any mainstream Dem names that people would actually be enthusiastic about.

Honestly i'm surprised they're going down the Kamala route because her history of being a prosecutor in California is so atrocious to most Democrats (locking up parents for their children truanting, locking up marijuana smokers then boasting about smoking it herself etc.)

Also she was polling like 2% in the 2020 primary despite having name recognition, celebrity endorsements and a pretty big war chest
dont discount vote blue no matter who and never trump. TDS is alive and well.

it's going poof when the dumb cunt loses
They don't have a winning formula here. Anyone with serious political aspirations like Whitmer wants nothing to do with this train wreck. The ones that do like RFK, Buttgag and Harris all have huge baggage attached to them and suck as candidates.

But Harris at least has money. The others don't got shit. They have to be worried what will happen when they go into a Brokered Convention with no clear nominee. The knives come out, and everyone will get blood on their hands. It will be a brutal juxtaposition to the party the Republicans just had.

Taylor Swift is 34 and will not turn 35 until December. Technically the President swears oath of office in January. I suppose she would qualify.

Yes, this was actually covered during SCOTUS arguments when Colorado was trying to kick Trump off the ballot. The rules for Presidential qualifications only come into effect against the candidate themself when taking office, so they can be on the ballot without meeting the qualifications as of the day of being put on there.

God that seems like ages ago. I can't believe "state official unilaterally kicking the GOP nominee off the ballot" was the least eventful legal issue this election cycle. The DNC is going to write new regulations in real time.
