They can but don't need to. Brain scan studies where I am sure most participants are AGP still show trans as having less masculine brains as they are being carried by the HSTS.
HSTS see themselves as girls before the age of 5 and act as such their parents very much know they are trans.

I've seen the study you're referring to and if I recall correctly they showed similar patterns to natal females because the troons were on estrogen. All it showed was estrogen can have an effect on the brain and not anything more.

When the brain scan question comes up all you really have to think about is if it were accurate, at all, that trannies could have wrongly sexed brains why would they need therapy at all to get them a diagnosis if there was a scientific basis to this? Gender clinics would be offering up brain scans left and right to diagnose this. Other countries would already be doing it. They aren't because it's bunk science that doesn't work out in the trannies favor, which is why they point to weak studies as "proof" such magic exists.
