Yes, except the sewage in the basement, which is probably more of a health hazard than the lawn, is also a lease requirement. I don't know why she wouldn't prioritize that over the lawncare, especially since it costs more.

I live in Minnesota - the only time you really need to worry about plumbing in winter is if you're not going to be in the house for a extended period of time (like months). Mem probably caused the backup by flushing a bunch of bulky stuff (or literal shit). I still don't buy the story either way, there's no way they are still living among shit for months without serious health consequences. And if wasn't caused by her, there are plenty of pro bono lawyers who would be willing to take the landlord to court.
