When roads don't get fixed, health codes aren't enforced, bums are allowed to scatter garbage everywhere, and criminals don't get arrested, that is not a problem of "too much government." You do not fix it by cutting taxes, sitting back, and waiting for tHe fReE mArkEt to start paving city streets, shutting down homeless camps, and putting crooks in jail.

I don’t disagree that the local government has to deal with those problems, but I do think the solution space needs to be properly explored.
For example, you could help address roads by regulating what vehicles can drive on them, or by placing taxes like NYC is doing, so as to reduce the wear and tear they get, and fund the repair of them.
But I personally don’t think something like a congestion tax is a good solution to the problem.
It’s not that you need to wait for the free market to fix it, that’s retarded lolbert nonsense. Just that you should solve those problems with different policies than what we see the left implement. As I said, idk what the contours of that are, and I probably need to get more informed on it.

When the issue is that city services are completely dysfunctional due to graft, DEI, the SEIU, and other bullshit, talking about tax cuts makes you sound like a tone-deaf retard, and tone-deaf retards don't win elections.

Oh absolutely. If my post came across as advocating for that right now to win elections, my deepest apologies, that was not my intent. I absolutely think the right needs to run on platforms of fixing cities and ending those problems.

My comments about taxes and free market stuff was done with the original talk about south bend in mind. That city certainly has need for stuff like fixing roads and homeless problems as well. But I also think that it would benefit from pro-business policies that would encourage development in the city. You’d also probably need to prime the pump with maybe some public works in addition to general infrastructure repair. But that’s all a side bar to the actual point I suppose.
