Absolutely. Men and women alike are more forgiving towards and willing to look past the wrongdoings of their same-sex friends. While with women it's typically cheating and using men for their money, men will gladly ignore their friends being paedophiles or date-rapists as long as they get to do the usual fun shit with the boys. Another aspect is that most people would not be comfortable with admitting it to themselves that someone who's only ever been a good friend to them could do horrible things to others, or they're attached to that friend and don't want to have a falling out with them because of such things, whether that be prison or simply dealing with the social scrutiny that being pals with a sex offender brings. I seriously doubt Jimmy has the emotional capacity for this to even be a possibility, though.
I forgot to mention in my original post, but a lot of the people who pretend to care about online sex pests like Chris and co. only do it performatively and would never actually take action against these people. It's easy to sit on your ass all day and make tweets about how terrible of a person he is, but I can guarantee that barely any of them would actually report him. I'm certain that those who were close to Chris at one point will make posts about how they totally had no idea he was like this and only now found out but they TOTALLY would have reported him for it back in the day because hurting kids and looking at CSAM is so very bad in their eyes! The reason YouTube is allegedly censoring the videos discussing any of this is the same as why none of the Mr Beast employees were speaking up despite supposedly knowing about his tendencies, too; paedos are at the top of the world and it doesn't matter at all if someone turns out to be one because the rich and the powerful have killed their ability for empathy long ago and the general public has no power to take down anyone that high up.

I think it's actually way lower. I think trans is like less than 1%, and lesbian/gay/bi is like 3.5%.

"One out of ten people are gay or bi - no matter who you are, you know someone who's gay!" is a slogan that was emotionally resonant, but not factual. These inflated numbers still get tossed around.
