I started automatically archiving anything I repubbed because so many great posts would just get blackholed after a few hours.

Thank you everyone especially @Buttigieg2020 for contributing to this thread. The most important thing is getting content off iFunny where it will be backholed. I'm reminded of people repubbing old (like 2015-16) era posts only for them to get banned once they got enough attention. Someone made a post complaining about it and someone else made a comment something to the effect of "art was made to be seen." Getting all these posts archived somewhere is the most important work we can do in preserving iFunny culture.

Twitter user loses his mind over iFunny reposting his comic​

On August 10'th 2020 twitter user George Alexopoulos stated to seethe over the fact that his comic was posted on iFunny with his watermark removed and when he downloaded it iFunny added its own watermark as it has always done.

When people try to explain to him that he is on the Internet and people reposing content while removing watermarks is common practice he continues to seethe that the app did not prevent the user from uploading the image

There is even a cross over with the now infamous Rekita Law as he advises Alex to DMCA the post that would get reposted.

iFunniers naturally heard the sounds of Alex's crying and decided to mock him for thinking a DMCA or legal action would do any thing, and that he stole OUR art.

Now whenever his art is posed a lot of users put their own watermark on the comics as akshually we made that art and HE stole it
So of you also happen to ever find yourself sharing his (honestly mediocre) comics be sure to let people know you actually made it.

Pokemon Noon

A Pokemon FireRed ROM hack from 2020 in the same vein as Pokemon Clover. I don't actually know much about this project, however the quality of the ROM is very impressive. It is completely filled with many famous users and memes and even has its own complete OST of mainly mashups and remixes. It's still receiving updates even today although the banocaust is making the future of the game look pretty bleak.

Another funny incident in iFunny history is in 2022 a tiktoker named Farod who had a large 700,000 follower count decided to do videos about iFunny shining a light on the userbases unabashed racist and edgy atmosphere.

iFunny's primary userbase are very xenophobic and isolationist when it comes to normie users getting introduced to and joining the app, and are even worse the users are annoying black people. When Farod decided to farm for more content for his tiktok by joining iFunny the he got exactly what he wanted. While the more normie user base liked the attention and thought the apps racist infamy was mostly ironic, other users did whatever they could to get around the text filter and call him a nigger and to tell him to leave the app and stop talking about it to his 700,000 followers.

Farod did some follow up videos on his tiktok doing the most natural thing on the internet and talking about how he was not afraid of words on a screen and made sure to let the users know he would continue to be a nascence to the apps users.

The only thing Farod was not aware of was a certain niche of user like Moxie (who posted about the current state of the app in this thread) or Feti (who has left the app) like to dox people they do not like. Users very quickly started posting memes and shitposts about Farods home.

Farod promptly left the app. However a few months ago an account with the same name as his was visiting my profile every few hours which reminded me to post memes about his house.

-$wa vs fandom: another user stated upthread that bronies used to be a major portion of the userbase, some edgier users began messing with them which eventually lead to all out factions being formed the "offensives" adding $wa to their usernames and the "fandom" adding FaUn(idr what either stood for). Also there was a super cringe post of some users oc pony flying through fictional hell captioned something like "flying through the valley of $wa".

WatchMenWakeUp definitely counts as an iFunny lolcow. He’s still active on YouTube as well.

the song in question contains the line "jesus jesus japanesus" i have no recollection of what the rest of it sounds like lmao. the whole app was engulfed by posts making fun of this dude and her saying that she had to move to japan so that they couldn't understand her shit ass bars. This went on for about a week until someone found pictures of her.

Sorry, that post was from 2020. I think you need different software now, or an older version of iFunny.
Lockdown worked as of 2023, but I think iFunny 10 breaks that.

Using an old APK is the best option on android.
I’ve seen version 6 and 8 APKs floating around.

For iPhone, I’m not sure what still works. I have version 7.12 on iOS and the all the ads except banner ads are broken, so I never updated.

iFunny’s (Failed?) Monetization

To raise money without ads, iFunny started offering colored usernames around 2020. For just 3 dollars a month, you could receive no tangible benefit whatsoever.
Users did not appreciate the obvious cash grab, so it became a custom to bully anyone who paid for the feature.

It really hasn’t been very relevant since probably 2022 with the end of the comic maker, but most of the community watch subjects aren’t really that popular either. The niche community is what creates the crazy bullshit.

Blokada still works, you have to manually block websites though. Basically what I do is close all my other apps then open iFunny. Then as soon as I see an ad I open Blokada and view recent allowed connections and manually add garbage like ad.doubleclick.net to the block exception list. They add new ones all the time so it's pretty Sisyphean. For me it blocks ads in-between posts and in the comments it just has a big empty space with the word "Advertisement."
