Fun fact: Session is also being used by Chinese Cat Torture groups. They used to use Telegram but Pavel Durov seems to have updated the ban algorithm to the point that they couldn't exist properly

Now speaking of Chinese, there's a huge community of coomers in China who use Telegram as their way of accessing hardcore porn.
For example https://t.me/sousuosuoyin - This Telegram bot is being used as a search engine, where you can type any tags and it will find any porn you could've ever wanted. As far as I'm aware there's nothing illegal there.
There are also a lot of lists of Chinese channels with hardcore porn (Example), I'm assuming they're being made as a way of communication and connection

My theory is that these gooners as people commonly refer to them don't view their..."lifestyle" as wrong or something to be ashamed about. You enter a gooner discord and the circle jerk convinces you that what you're doing is perfectly normal, and the addict believes them blindly to protect the ego and continue the cycle.

Deep down they are ashamed of their addiction, the best case scenario is they tone the porn down or eliminate the consumption until the cravings stop (which is something that's not commonly talked about because who is going to admit they were a gooner?), the other scenario is to keep pushing that high to it's absolute morbid limits until a discord isn't enough anymore and you commission an airline to take you back and forth from a secluded island where there are no limits to the depravity. What we see here is the middle stage where they can be saved but are still ambivalent if they want to be saved or not.
