During this part, she keeps trying to find an analogy for AI and how it will change the world and one she uses is the development of agriculture. They discuss this a bit. Destiny thinks people were nomadic hunter gatherer berry eaters until one guy was like woah i can grow a crop and stay in one place and then it was a huge revolution and everyone started farming. It sounds dumb because it’s like he doesn’t realize that farming developed in different areas and different groups and there were nomadic hunter gatherers living concurrent with people who farm ( and i think there are still some out there) because maybe that made more sense for the environment they were in. Farming enough to support a population also requires a lot of work, long term time investment, and certain environmental conditions. it’s not a magic power up that destroys nomadism. Just by creating trash piles humans would be able to begin cultivating plants accidentally if it the environment was hospitable to it.

It seems like a very black and white way of thinking where things always progress forward. Sorry for the sperg out.
Lots of people have this theory of how advance works. It's why a lot of people can't get their heads around evolution, they think each species just pops out fully formed rather than there were probably hundreds or maybe thousands of mutations that weren't viable or that species have features that evolved multiple ones back and didn't go away because there was no advantage from losing them. The "smarter" kinds in academia cite Thomas Kuhn even though he explicitly wrote a new intro to his book to let everyone know this is completely the wrong way to read his book, that paradigm changes aren't sudden and out of nowhere but more like hitting a critical mass point where you can no longer deny the new one. Few people have the historical knowledge to realize we after a paradigm change about religion that was the result of things centuries earlier.

It's funny because most of these people also do all their thinking based on an absurd notion of the butterfly effect. Like this entire discussion about AI suddenly tipping over into a totalitarian sentience that controls everything so we need to be really careful about letting a chatbot read too much Reddit. Or the whole stochastic terrorism theory, or the idea that the Kiwi Farms mocking you just once will kill you. It's all this weird reasoning where everything has a clear single magical cause.

But they all undersell the reality before what they're imagining what the paradigm change was. Destiny lives long after the establishment of agriculture so he can't even conceive how absurd the idea would be for some guy to just think he could grow crops. Why would you think this? You'd have to know how plants reproduce, you'd have to know how plants grow, you'd have to know how to transport plants, etc. It seems so simple to us because we're so far after this was figured out and it became common knowledge, all of us know that Brawndo has what plants crave, it's got electrolytes. The nomads would have thought that dude was crazy. Nomads would have thought it was absurd to stay in one place, but something happened to convince some people to settle. They need a quick answer they can grasp, so it was luck, some guy just happened to think of it and it worked perfectly the first time it was tried. Because this is how things happen.

@AirdropShitposts
It’s actually not absurd to think you can grow things, like i mentioned in my other post it can be discovered quite accidentally in the right conditions. For example, people forage for food, they toss all the parts they dont want like large seeds in a refuse pile, the pile breaks down ( basically compost) and some seeds sprout and grow on their own, producing more food plants the next time they visit the area. Even nomads traverse the same areas as they know when/ where to find food. Replicate this by making your own trash piles and if you figure out the timing, you begin increasing available food by increasing plant reproduction. Over time plants adapt to the humans and humans adapt to them, by taking care of them, similar to domestication of animals. It’s not some genius level thing. However if you live in say the Arctic, or some other extreme climate, those constraints could prevent you from inventing agriculture. Those people wont even be able to use the technology of agriculture until maybe you live in modern times and have access to even more advanced tech and can do things like use resources from far away to artificially heat greenhouses, etc etc.

He literally thinks agriculture some break through invented by crazy grug genius when it’s just basic tech that any average or even below avg intelligence people could do under the right circumstances.

And they’re trying to use this as an illustration of how we could somehow invent an intelligence that is so much smarter than us, it would make us look like monkeys in comparison. No one’s ever, ever gotten close to something like that. I dont understand how it’s possible. A monkey certainly cant invent a human level intellect and the idea is absolutely absurd on it’s face, but it’s assumed we can create (or indirectly create by creating the system that created it) something that blows us out of the water? Sounds like a god complex to me.

And a sidenote that in my opinion, the deeper you get into biology and understand how various organisms work, the less the explanation of all life developing from a common ancestor through macro evolution makes sense.

Apparently they speak at length about the moon and no one at the table actually understands how moon cycles work.
I have learned recently that many grown adults don't understand how the moon works, especially related to day and month cycles. Really basic stuff like moon phases, let alone "more advanced" stuff like the sidereal day. Honestly I screwed something really basic up when I was 11 or so and got corrected and that's why I researched it.

It's fairly well-studied that people tend to socially cluster with those of similar IQs. Many people in my cluster don't understand or appreciate this. Just by virtue of participating in a web forum (even moreso one that requires contravention of social norms and generally going out of one's way to access), the users of the kiwifarms are statistically more likely to have at least slightly above average IQs, and less likely to know many people of below average IQs.

Nickelback sold millions of albums, Choco Cooky is the selected font on millions of phones, and most people don't know how the moon works.

I hate to give credence to Dick Masterson, aka Dax Herrera, aka Juju the Cow, a man who etc., but he was right about asking people (not just women but, uh, my personal experience has shown it's improbably more women than men) 1) if they believe in ghosts and 2) when America's major wars (Revolution, Civil, WW1, WW2, Vietnam) took place. I imagine you'd be shocked how many can't get a single one correct within a decade.

I'm actually curious how Aella would fare if someone sprung that question on her live.

Some guy was on here a couple years ago saying that, but I never checked it. Saying the average poster capable of writing paragraphs has an average 110 IQ? Sounds kind of optimistic, but maybe IQ tests get unreliable a lot lower than previously thought, in the 120-130 range.

Not to derail the thread into IQ sperging, but basically. IQ is more granular than people realize. There's a big difference between 100 and 110. Just statistically, half the population are in double digits. The average African American IQ is 85 (and as Steve Sailer is wont to remind everyone, the average African IQ is 73, implying it's at least partially environmental).

There are filtering factors that likely increase the average IQ of kiwis by a few points, like 103, 105, that zone.

I wouldn't be surprised if Aella was 112 or less, much to her embarrassment.

I know Ralph has posted internet IQ test results of like 120 or something, but I imagine in a formally proctored test he'd score like 45. The man's a fucking vegetable. (Somewhat vindictively hyperbolic, I genuinely think he's sub 100 though)

It’s been a little quiet on the a log front so I stopped by her x

She REALLY wants more men to fill out her dating survey

Also more dumb.

This is one of the most autistic things I've read on this forum.
That has to be bait, no one is that retarded. Or is she so socially isolated that she doesn't have normal everyday interactions? Sometimes what she writes reminds me of what hikkomori incels write about real life.

She was a sheltered Christian kid who acted out the most basic bitch version of rebellion against her parents and now only hangs around with other "rationalist" weirdos/creepy techbro betas who'll nod along with whatever she says because they want to bang her. Of course she has a distorted view of reality.

It could be environmental (the soil in Africa is very low in iodine, and deficiency lowers IQ), but African Americans have nearly 1/4 Euro DNA on average.

Something about the kind of work she's had done looks especially bad when talking. The nose and the way the lips crinkle up at the edges looks very unnatural.

I've always felt like a lot of the plastic surgery people get done these days looks OK if they are doing some instagram pose or smile, but from other angles looks uncanny.
