UK British News Megathread - aka CWCissey's news thread

https://news.sky.com/story/row-over-new-greggs-vegan-sausage-rolls-heats-up-11597679

A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

This Tommy fellow seems kind of based honestly. Why are there bongs in thread who seem to dislike him over being a little bit of a grifter when he's got other qualities, like his fucking balls, that outshine the greed?

Hope he doesn't get disappeared.
It's class-conscious snobbery on their part.

Yes, we know what yobs are. We know Tommy Robinson looks and sounds like one, and that the EDL was composed mostly of football hooligans. We know they probably didn't get the best grades in school or come from money.

We also know that faggy Limeys wrinkle their noses up at them because they're scared to death of being called yobs themselves. Being considered lower class than you are is a nightmare for them.

We Yanks don't quite have that sickness as bad. What we see is that the lower-class poorly schooled builders are seemingly the only people in Blighty who have backbones to stand up to shit-skinned mongrels.

Imagine being called racist for flying your country's flag:

The UK government is horrid, the Americans make fun of them for it, and the Brits lash out against that. Seems like a normal day on the Internet, honestly.
The UK government is horrible, and so are our ruling class. The sensible Brit realises that the same fuckers who you fought a war to get out from under still have their boot on our neck to this very day . (A few friendly banters about fat and butter knives are fine.)

Most of us don't tend to go into the US thread posting "imagine being American" and making school shooting jokes whereas Americans only ever come to this thread to make loisecnse jokes.
The loicense jokes are well-deserved. You have to be 18 to buy fucking cutlery in this country. I'm almost 25 and the other day I had to show ID to buy a pizza cutter. When I was 16 I was refused a sale for a shaving razor and ended up having to get my dad to buy it for me... who was then also refused the sale because it would have been a "proxy purchase".

If you're under 18 (or over 18 but don't have a passport or driving license) you literally can't buy basic household supplies and grooming products in this country, things have absolutely gotten out of hand.

Considering it's illegal to even have certain opinions on Islam or immigration, that the government can arrest you and declare entire groups terrorist cells no better than ISIS, arresting everyone ever affiliated with that group even if they were peaceful, that any and all protests and demonstrations can be called an "unlawful gathering" for any purpose the government sees fit... that a fucking film (making one or even showing one) can land a man in prison...

...I don't see the avenue for peaceful protests really working.

Haha stupid Americans and their guns always shooting each other. Can't even leave the house without being scared for your life!
I live in one of the most gun friendly states, Never once have I been scared of going out and doing my daily routine. He'll in high school my AG teacher made us take a hunting lisence course and we shot clay pigeons with .410 shotguns on school ground.
I know you're post was sarcastic, but to the british, guns don't really scare the southern half of the U.S.

At 27:57 Tommy Robinson admits he's Jewish when 'confronting' Mark Collett.
That isn't Tommy speaking. It's someone called David Modell, a journalist. The interview with Collett comes from an episode of Dispatches, an investigative series.

"Tommy" wasn't involved in the interview at all. I have to assume his reaction video (which is what Jim is using in his reaction video) was deleted for breaching copyright.

Britain arresting journalists while Muslim rape gangs run rampant

France electing a gay faggot leader and showing how they love to molest kids at the Olympics

Venezuela rigging an election

American media trying to downplay an assassination attempt on a presidential candidate while also downplaying it and encouraging another attempt

Canada getting covered in shit from indian scammers

Migrants flooding every civilized country and turning them into their 3rd world homelands with the numbers only increasing

I'd say the world is a pressure cooker for revolution but the world's conservatives are too cucked to do anything so quality of life will continue to degrade globally

Tommy is an absolute faggot, who does this as a job to pay for his spanish housing grift. He regularly punches right and does the 'not racist! I luv sikhs and blacks!' Song and dance. But he also helped shift the overton window and was one of the few people I've personally met who is open and honest about the rape gang issue. So I can forgive the controlled opposition and grifting. In an ideal world he'd be considered a centrist

You site the Guardian and Wikipedia as legitimate sources lol no thank you.

Pick your poison then. I could keep going on and on with these links as this guy has had more convictions than I've had hot dinners. This is just on his libel case.

Anyway, I'm done with this thread until we get some kind of official confirmation on what we was arrested for because it's all just speculation at the moment.

He's been a bit all over the shop for a long time, part of him still wants some mainstream acceptance and he doesn't want to get lumped in with the old football skinheads like the media has been trying to do to him since he has been a public figure.

Similar to Farage I think that's why he does the whole "I love Indians" schtick. They just want to be the concerned citizen and won't commit to anything ideologically deeper than that. To some extent, it is better than nothing

He's a civic nationalist. His problem is with islamic ideology first and foremost, with mass immigration coming second. He has no issue with a low level of legal immigration, as long as the law is enforced fairly and nobody is given special privileges.

It's why he did so well early on. Most people are very receptive to 'hold on, that's not fair!'. Especially when true. As much of a horrible, racist Nazi as I am. I still like seeing Tommy ladding it up and getting cheers for saying very basic truths while the spastics in uniform sweat and grumble lile literal cartoon villains.
