I always go with Sheev Cosinga Palpatine as his full name.Sheev is Disney name.
Proper name is Cosinga
The Republic lasted for a thousand years and the Empire was reduced to a regional power after thirty, and the New Republic has to be somewhat incompetant in order to justify the relentless crises that happen so that the books can have plot.Especially since in the NJO and LOTF story arcs, the Empire is the most stable government in the galaxy.
I just figured it came down to Palpy wanting to replace Vader because of the whole Rule of Two thing, but despite being horribly crippled and in a walking Iron Lung Vader was still the most powerful Force user Palpy had access to. Nowhere close to what Anakin had been in his prime, but Vader was still powerful enough to take down anyone else Palpy came across. By the same token Vader wanted to take down Palpy and be the master himself, but never came across anyone he could use.The fucker doesn't give a shit about the Sith from the materials I've read from the OT. He regarded himself as a god, and the Sith, for all he gave a fuck about, was just a stepping stone to that. If he was a true Sith, he'd be raising an apprentice who would one day overthrow him. He never did. He barely gave Vader Sith techniques to work with; and he didn't even grab an apprentice during the Dark Empire era; he just wanted to rule as a god with Dark Jedi servants beneath him, and him as the sole Sith. Sure, he had Luke for a while, but that didn't last, and he never replaced Luke when the boy left.
It was alluded (he abandoned his name to spite his father whose name was Cosinga, so the logical conclusion is that the name was Cosinga Jr.)I don't remember that his name was actually stated in Plagueis? I think it was just mentioned that he only went by Palpatine. Maybe I missed it-
I like Sheev. It fits with the Naboo naming scheme (Padmé = Padma, Sheev = Shiva), it goes well with the Palpatine name, and it is a funny meme name at the same time, so it works both ironically and unironically. Of all the Disney additions to the lore, this is the one I don’t have much of a problem with. Plus, it's from the Tarkin novel, I believe, and from what I've heard that was written with the EU in mind.
If they were that desperate they'd try to make a decent movie not filled with shit people hate.Basically MCU has been losing audience and they are desperate to do anything to reverse course, that includes bringing back a character and actor everyone likes.

Renaissance Italian hippies. Which is ironic, considering Renaissance Italy was so warlike they even had a Pope, Julius II, who was a career soldier. Lucas took a warlike culture that had great architecture and style, and made them hippies. Just like he did with the Mandalorians in TCW.Are Nabooians pajeets?

The Republic lasted because of the Jedi. Take the Jedi away, and the New Republic floundered and failed. That does not say much about how good their government is, but how powerful and pivotal the Jedi were. At that point, you might as well put the fucking Jedi in charge, because they've been carrying Team Republic for a thousand generations. The Republic lasted for a thousand years and the Empire was reduced to a regional power after thirty,
No it doesn't. You can have a competent New Republic going up against insurmountable odds, doing everything right and yet still failing due to how powerful or how cunning a new enemy can be. You don't have to make the New Republic so paste-eating retarded like in NJO.and the New Republic has to be somewhat incompetant in order to justify the relentless crises that happen so that the books can have plot.
Palpatine wants to replace Vader because he's past his prime. Oh, and Palpatine was already violating the Rule of Two by having people like Mara Jade around, while Vader had his apprentice in Lumiya.I just figured it came down to Palpy wanting to replace Vader because of the whole Rule of Two thing, but despite being horribly crippled and in a walking Iron Lung Vader was still the most powerful Force user Palpy had access to. Nowhere close to what Anakin had been in his prime, but Vader was still powerful enough to take down anyone else Palpy came across. Which is colossally stupid. Luke is a Jedi whose foster family was burned to cinders by the Empire, and whose friends are leading the Rebellion. The only way he'd say yes to Vader is if Vader joined the Rebels, and there was no way in hell he'd abandon his friends for some distant Emperor that he knows nothing about, for the sake of power, which Luke already has in droves. Then Luke came along and suddenly both of them saw the possibility of converting him and either Vader is replaced and satisfies Palpy's desire for a more powerful apprentice or Vader ends up killing Palpy and trains Luke. It's the Sith way after all. The wrench throw in the works was Luke saying "no." Neither Palpy or Vader expected it.
Funny that you say that. In the novels that take place after Revenge of the Sith, specifically Dark Lord: Rise of Darth Vader, Palpatine didn't want the Jedi fully destroyed. He even tells Vader to not obsess over hunting down the remaining Jedi. In fact, he wanted some Jedi to survive Order 66 so they can be humbled. He wanted them to atone for 1000 years of arrogance by having whatever pathetic remnants of the Jedi hide in whatever shithole planets they can find. He wanted them to be humiliated and brought low, to be stripped down to the bare minimum and be forced to recognize that the Sith defeated them, especially as Vader runs around in public, fully identifying himself as a Sith Lord, and has power over the military. The other angle to consider comes from the novelization of Revenge of the Sith. When Vader is being rebuilt after Mustafar, Palpy looks at him as his greatest accomplishment. He maneuvered the Jedi into depleting their numbers for him, then used the Clones to destroy the order entirely, and best of all he used the Chosen One to do it. The most powerful Jedi ever and Palpy turned him to the Dark Side and used him to destroy the Jedi Order. He wasn't going to get rid of Vader because every time he looked at Vader he was reminded of how he pulled off the dream the Sith had for a thousand years: destroy the Jedi.
I dunno, but Theed is definitely Space Venice. Are Nabooians pajeets?

Totally forgot Skeleton Crew is a thing, I've heard next to nothing about that one. Is it also gonna come out this year?
The show was supposed to take place during the High Republic but they retooled it to fit in the Furloni-verse. The rewrites and paying for Jude Law is going to make it cost way more than it should.Apparently according to "leaks" it's shit and Lucasfilm is very aware it is shit. In a way they can't delude themselves like they did with the Acolshyte. It will be interesting to see if that turns out to be true. It's meant to be something like Star Trek Prodigy set in Star Wars. So making up a rumour it's shit probably has a high chance of being correct in the current landscape.

No clue. There's so little news about the show that I thought I had dreamed that there was going to be a Star Wars show with Jude Law and Steve Urkel until people started talking about it during Fagolyte reviews. Was that after or before it was shot?
I've never even heard of Skeleton Crew, what's the deal with that show (?)
That doesn't really mean anything to me. Isn't that an animated comedy?Star Wars: Lower Decks
