Plus, at a certain stage of porn addiction, hardcore porn doesn't get the addict off anymore, so they begin sexualizing non-sexual things like videos of women eating or fully clothed neck-up pictures of random women on Facebook (this is where gooning comes in). They'll also do things like keep their hands in their pockets (contact below the belt, even if they're not touching their penis, can be a turnon for them) or just think of sex stuff so they can edge through their pants for hours.
A good friend of mine IRL is an example of this. I don’t know when it started to happen, but I began to notice it about a year ago. One time, we were out to dinner with our group of friends and I made passive comment about an attractive woman who walked by our table. She was a cute, slender Latina woman wearing a sundress that rose about knee length. He unceremoniously gawked at her, rubbernecking all the way until she left his sight. I thought it was pretty weird since it was 100% overt, but tried to carry on with the conversation we were having before I made the interjection about the woman. Dude looked visibly perturbed and was no longer able to carry conversation. Eventually, he excused himself to go to the restroom. After about fifteen minutes, he returned to the table acting completely normal. I thought maybe something he ate disagreed with his stomach and didn’t think much else of it.
Later, we all went back to my house to drink, etc. Aforementioned friend kept to himself, isolated to a corner mostly away from everyone else. He was deep into something on his phone. I log all traffic on my wireless network, which he was connected to. Dude in question is fairly extroverted and for him to clam up is pretty unusual. Curiously, I decided to check my logs and found several thousand requests for images of similar looking women in similar sundresses all from sources like Facebook, Tumblr, and Pinterest. Never any real porn though.
Throughout the night, he would continuously excuse himself to the restroom for about fifteen minutes at a time, return to be social for a few moments, then go right back to looking at women on the Internet.
Said friend doesn’t really hang out much anymore. He’s always “busy” on the weekend. He recently got into anime too and has spent a mint on pvc statues of characters. He also doesn’t invite anyone over to his place anymore. The only thing I can think of are those old “hot glue” subreddits and posts in the *chans and become sickened to my core.
I always laughed at this gooner/coomer shit because it’s supremely funny on the surface. It still kind of is… until it is impacting someone you care about.
