Doubt it, if you consider the timing adjacent to the NES/Famicom World Championship pack it becomes immediately clear -- keeping the NES/Famicom joycons charged and in good condition.Oh yeah, speaking of charging, Nintendo just announced a new Switch accessory, in the year 2024, the system's last full year as Nintendo's lead platform. Its a dedicated joy-con charger. Some people are speculating that its future-proofing Switch 1 joy-cons since they work on Switch 2 even if they can't physically connect to it to charge. I dunno, Switch accessories have always been weird bullshit to me, so we'll have to wait and see.
The only existing officially licensed Joycon charger that I am aware of that is compatible with those controllers is this ugly Power A unit:

It's also no longer sold. Short of hacking another charger up to make them fit you would need to top them up occasionally on the console itself.
That's why this accessory exists.
