Magnetic tape is the best archival medium. Older tape is cheaper of course and the storage space is massive. The only downside is you likely can't send the tape drive data fast enough to get the most out of it. LTO is what you want to look into for it.

I was think LTO4 but I'm gonna wait for the new LTO to drop because 4 will drop in price.

I don't know why everyone's freaking out, DMCA takedown requests are just a normal part of any "third-party, independent investigation". Getting rid of any and all evidence of wrongdoing is pretty standard operating procedure. Remember, if you can't (easily) see any wrongdoing, that means there is no wrongdoing!

If you can't see it, it means it didn't happen! It was fake! And if it did happen, well, it wasn't that bad, it was only a joke bro! Just some edgy memes! If you're legitimately considering getting an LTO drive, LTO5 is the one you should look for. Mainly because that's when they added LTFS support - a filesystem that makes the OS see the tape as a hard drive. Archiving shit (and extracting data from the archive) becomes as simple as a drag-and-drop in file manager. Also you can actually open and read the data on tape without extracting it. Otherwise you'll have to fuck around with various archiving software that supports LTO, and even then you won't actually be able to read the data without extracting it from tape first.
The only problem is the price of the drive. You can occasionally get a used drive for <$200, but you really have to get lucky for that to happen.

The best part about taking down these things is that judges are, by and large, completely technology illiterate and will believe him when he says the archived proof is fake.

Also: Reminder that he has people actively seeking to sue him. This C&D wave didn't manifest from nothing and likely has little to do with Chris, directly.

I find it really hard to believe he's using a PR firm that hasn't heard of the Streisand Effect. His lawyers have to be handling this and they're doing it in the most lawyerly way possible.

I'm legitimately considering it. I fill HDDs like crazy from archiving kiwi farms stuff like the leaks, to pirated and legal full Bluray rips/High res audio/games/DVD rips, even random shit like Square Enix's press release kits that are publicly available.
