UK British News Megathread - aka CWCissey's news thread

https://news.sky.com/story/row-over-new-greggs-vegan-sausage-rolls-heats-up-11597679

A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

At this rate its going to take a miracle to last a full term lol They are facing down a revolt and making the time proven approach of "kick the peasants harder!" to try and calm things, Meanwhile they are going through their own little civil war after immediately breaking promises. Idk, I feel strangely positive about my countries future for the first time in such a long time.

I'm feeling smug, in a way. I didn't get the seat distribution right (I couldn't have been more wrong if I tried), but everything else I predicted before the election is coming true. Labour are going to spend most of this term embroiled in fire-fighting and reacting to events, without a clear mandate or vision. The party is split, with Keir and Rayner at loggerheads behind the scenes and with two, possible three factions solidifying (Starmer's tranny-progressive wing, corbyn/rayner's momentum, and a reformist wing that currently has no focus, but might consolidate around wes streeting). Starmer's Labour is three parties in a raincoat, meaning he's functionally leading a minority government, even if he has a majority on paper. There will be certain places where Labour are united, but in a lot of cases I reckon Keir will have to rely on support from the lib dems, independents, and even the tories to ram things through in the face of opposition from his own party. The fact that he's already throwing people out of the party shows how disunited they are.

After seeing the headlines on about 100 arrests in London last night I thought I'd spend a few mins googling.

Let's compare....

Pakis - 0 arrests

Pakis again - 0 arrests

Roma gypos - 20 arrests
(sidenote: they didn't dare interfere with the gypos at the time, these were next day etc arrests)

White English - 100 arrests

Obviously none of its like for like but when you look at the pakis blocking off a police station and a city centre including tram lines and roads. Then the gypos burning a police car and a bus.
Compare that to last night when some of that 100 were arrested for nothing more than staying later than 20:30!

What the fuck is wrong with you people in the UK?

What is the point of these riots? 3 kids murdered by a sick guy, and your solution is to decide that anyone with a different skin color is a potential murderer in wait? Or perhaps an odd sounding name.

All I saw was a bunch of citizens attacking their own police, and then going on-line to complain that for reasons unknown, you find it hard to find new recruits to become police?

It has never occurred to be driving past a mosque that it should burn to the ground anymore so than when I pass a Christian Church knowing the highest congregation of child molesters in any group globally is within the safety of the church, to burn that down either.

The truth is, England has never liked itself at any point in history and has been littered with failure as an empire that was miserable for most of it's people even at it's peak, and still miserable with themselves at it's lowest point (current existence). They've been chasing red herrings for centuries as to their own misery and in your riots I don't see patriots, I just see miserable white people who have always been miserable, and when it isn't a nigger to blame, it's royalty, and when it's not royalty, its the government, and when it's not the government its a foreign power, and when it's not a foreign power it's the wealthy, and when it's not the wealthy its a nigger to blame and on and on the cycle goes.

You will forever be a miserable peoples who take the weather with you. Shut the borders tomorrow and get rid of every person who doesn't look like you and you still will be a miserable population, namely a miserable white, male population. You always have clung to a complete and utter delusion that the past was better yet every Brit will tell you their parents are boring, miserable old farts they aspire to never become like, and inevitably do so.

Pink Floyd is the national anthem for the majority of your men, sorrowful, dreary, and doomed.

If we've decided to turn on anyone who isn't white, why were there black and brown people in the crowds protesting at Downing Street last night? Why didn't anybody white suddenly turn on and viciously attack coloured people who joined?

This will come as little surprise to anybody following but suspect has now officially been named as the restriction is lifted: Axel Muganwa Rudakubana, born 7 August 2006. Sources: Skynews, BBC

Looks like the judge has thrown the niggers to the wolves in order to protect his muslim rape gang buddies!

I actually dont recall an under 18 ever being named before conviction and even thats rare, yet supposedly a 20 minute legal argument persuaded him... yea ok.

The press were arguing to the death yesterday that they couldn’t name him until after trial like with the tranny killers. As you said, very unusual.

It can only mean the authorities are scared shitless. They did not expect such backlash from the native populace and are trying desperately to calm it since beating the peasants harder might escalate the rage.

In absence of more up to date photos, here is a courtroom sketch of Axel Rudakubana while he was at Liverpool Crown Court

Look at those empty eyes. Fuck me. Let's be real, we've all seen those eyes, every fucking animal out there has them. Just completely lifeless, thoughtless and dull.

Considering Axel's comments on genocide, it's perfectly possible that he's related to someone who was complicit in the Rwandan genocide. Pretty much every adult-aged Hutu was complicit in some capacity. It's something that I have been and will continue digging into.

He shares his surname with escaped war criminal Anaclet Rudakubana, who was appointed as governor for Kibungo. I've seen claims on X claiming that Axel's dad is this individual (took on a new name when migrating to the UK), but I have found no sources confirming this. Furthermore, he would've been a teenager at the time (18-19 as far as I can tell).

I've also seen sources claiming that his mother had been condoning the genocide on her Facebook page, but this is something that I've been unable to confirm. Her facebook is now private and there's very little in terms of useable information.

Let's hope that this scumbag rots in prison.
