Go figure Second Wind would be in the process of imploding already. It's very much like Escapist before them; Yahtzee gets the views, while the view count and retention of all other programming is pathetic for the subscribers and money it generates.

He doesn't have to worry about sponsors, early game copies, event passes or other bullshit, which will give him a lot extra of free time to spend with his family and to work on his passion projects (his indie games and books). He'd make more money going solo, but he would probably have to work twice as hard.

I'll be fair and say that he literally never learned the business.
He made YT videos (and Flash Videos) in the way back when - when being a YouTuber was considered a pipe dream/never going to happen job. He was one of the first people to make a living out of it and making a living out it basically required some type of company to broker deals with. Yahtzee tried SA but wound up at the Escapist who apparently treated him well (compared to say people who went with NormalBoots, Machinma, etc) and he never really forgot it - well enough that he literally carried the entire site on his back for several years.
Second Wind is probably just an extension of that - him trying to do right for people he feels did right by him.
Looking into it though - holy fucking shit I'm coming into it with 0 knowledge but it feels like Calandra is an actual retard when it comes to business because it shouldn't be this hard. Below is the revenue report that was posted for Dec 2023 (SW launched in November) but apparently they couldn't figure out how to try and pay salaries until Feburary of 2024 - meaning that everyone was working for free (after being fired) for at least 3 months. I couldn't find more because it seems like this was supposed to be a Monthly report, then a Quarterly One, then it just stopped happening. At least I couldn't find it on Twitter or Reddit -
They can't really grow the Patreon much bigger than the initial boost and I have 0 idea how the fuck they're supposed to fully employ TWELVE people + expenses + everything else with what they're looking at. Frost is 100% that Sponsorships have to be a key focus because they literally do not have other more viable revenue streams and that twitter slapfighting instead of networking is going to cause huge gigantic issues. That $200k is going to dry up fucking fast if Yahzee and Frost are bringing in anything compared to what they would get paid solo.
Maybe because I'm not a Patron but for all of this info supposedly being "very transparent" I can't fucking find any of it - which is another point against the CEO. Not easily accessible (not on Reddit, Twitter, or even KF but probably because we don't care yet) and was alleged to be "leaked" on the discord instead of a known quantity.
I'm baffled at how they could fuck this up with so much of a head start, so much money coming in, and so many people willing to work for literally free. If this was some kind of "Start your own Business" video game, this would have been Easy/Tutorial mode.
They don't even have a fucking website like holy shit how do you not have a website. You think legit sponsors are going to comb through your fucking youtube channel or twitter handle you fucking moron. Holy fuck the guy that got fired was apparently hitting sales goals as of March and is termed in fucking July.
Maybe I'm wrong but it sure sounds like Second Wind is in massive trouble and Frost is right to have bailed - firing your sales guy when you're already struggling to stay afloat is the wrong move for an already unprofessional looking company. Doubly so if that fucking sales guy spend 3 or 4 months working at your company for free.

It's actually worse, cuz from what I remember everytime Blobert would post a vid on escapist youtube channel back in the day, they'd lose subs. Plus, as you know, (good work btw) Jim is bleeding subs. It just seems like the next logically retarded step for escapist 2 with hookers and blackjack.

The only solace there is it would seem that SecondWind can't actually afford to hire anyone who's currently making money. Sterling is a full on retard but isn't going to throw away an extremely easy gig that pays him $100,000/year for some "sweat equity" in a company people are starting to doubt will be around this time next year.

It would certainly be a hell of a spectacle, especially if they became regulars on the podcast. Between Blob's unhinged rants about chuds and Jim sexually harassing everyone it might actually become worth watching.
