Basically a sanitized version of whore around and party hardy. "Shop around and live it up in college, girls, don't tie yourself down!" Think it's supposed to come off as avuncular, but given everything else about him and his own family, it seems more like he's asking for droit de seigneur.

They have cooks at home. They very rarely eat outside, and when they do it will either be some Michelin place or somewhere like Comet Pizza.

If we take everything that was written in her found diaries as the truth (and I see no reason not to, it all checks out with everything else we can observe about Joe and his family) then he's likely a specific type of sex offender, the incestuous dad who sees himself as having a "right" to the victim's body as part of his overall paternal privilege. That kind of offender will often seem traditional or strict from the outside, as he does not want other males trespassing upon the body of his daughter- with the "his" carrying a lot more sinister layers than it would for a normal father. And this will often extend into adulthood.

If this is an accurate profile of Joe, he's habitually warning random little girls off dating boys their own age, because he feels he should have first dibs.

Yep. Best friend is Brazilian. She went through all the legal bullshit and recently became a citizen of this country.
