Nagin got a bad rap for Katrina. No mayor in the country is equipped to deal with that and the Governor + W did zero for like two weeks. Nagin was on his own during that and did pretty well all things considered.
iirc Nagin (or state officials) were exactly telling the feds to fuck off

but yeah Dubya at best "kinda sucked"
he probably would have been better remembered as a one-term who had funky stuff during the election but 9/11 gave him enough momentum to keep going

Nope. Governor Kathleen Blanco had a nervous breakdown and just expected the Feds to show up on their own without a request. She's also in charge of the LA National Guard and I guess nobody told her. She was unfit to ever be elected but Girl Power was just taking off back then and so she was.

When W finally did send FEMA it turned out he had hired one of his horse farm buddies as Director (Brownie) who had no clue what to do either.

Question, what exactly do extremely rich people eat? Not Trump I mean liberal elite WEF types.

Because every time they try and have these photo ops to look like normal people it's so fucking bizarre and uncanny.

It's like watching a space alien try and figure out how to eat a hamburger. I assumed rich people ate burgers and normal food occasionally but I guess not judging from this shit.
It tends to be a lot of small portion, highly prepared meats as the main, with some fruits and vegetables based on whatever the main is. If its supposed to impress, a multi-course meal with soups, breads and the like is also on the menu. Think fine medallion steaks, lamb, a slice of wellington and so forth. The universal constant being they're meant to be eaten slowly with utensils. Giving a WEF elite a corndog is like giving a hood rat a blank cover letter to fill out, they genuinely don't know how to approach it properly. Its a good litmus test for how 'normal' someones upraising was, and how rooted in it they still are.

Trump escapes this in no small part because of his germaphobia driving him to consistently overcooked stuff like mcdonalds, those well done steaks from earlier, etc. Its not that he doesn't do the fine dining too, just that when he is out and about on business, he didn't seem to trust the local fancy joints hygiene for anything other than business meetings - he'd just grab a quarter pounder between flights if he didn't have anyone to impress.

We should have never bailed out the banks.

What a load of shit.
Unfortunately they tried that, they let Lehman collapse, and everybody panicked

That whole everything must burn billions must die thing would have really happened if they'd done nothing

Well ok it wouldn't have gone that far, but shit would have got so bad that banks representing large chunks of global credit would have been collapsing one after another. That would have resulted in much much worse government bailouts and bullshit

That's how bad they fucked the whole thing up before the bottom fell out, that what they did in response was unironically the least bad option

Heck of a job.

I hope it is Shapiro. Just for the sole purpose of seeing his fucking mug begging for shekels before every YouTube video.

Nyehh hello, this is Rabbi Joshua Shapiro from Temple Beth Democrat. As you know, my faith prohibits me from using a video camera on the Sabbath. But a gentile staffer- and let’s face it, there are fewer of those these days- has kindly set up the tripod and has pressed the RECORD button for me. G-d forgives many sins, but not arson. Unlike the burning bush, the fire Donald Trump set to Our Democracy™…(unintelligible kike noises)”

I had an uncle who worked for a sports agent to really big guys, like Shaq and Tiger, the mcmansion my uncle handled had a lot of fairly normal food, dude was big into popcorn balls so there were a few bowls of them shrinkwrapped from some company
I don't know if he was WEF level but he had a warhol soup can in his breakfast nook

With all the bush talk, it's interesting considering the vitriol towards Trump that I look forward to seeing a future republican president coming in and seeing the media do a 180 on him
I am unironically waiting for the unironic 'Trump wanted to be Hitler but at least he didn't want to be Super Mega 1 Trillion Times Hitler like [2028 Republican presidential candidate] does' articles. They tried to do that a little bit with DeSantis when they thought he had a chance lmao and it was great

Agreed, but it’s kind of a damned if you do damned if you don’t type situation.
If you don’t bail out the banks, you see some wicked bad economic fallout. Like unimaginably bad, collapse of the entire economic world order bad.
If you do, you reward absolutely abhorrent behavior from the banks, at the average Americans expense.
They absolutely should have gone with the former option. Fuck the current economic order if it’s built on retarded policies. But that’s a really hard sell to most people.

That said, I’m not convinced that many of our current woes don’t stem from that decision, and that we didn’t so much solve the problem as push the impending collapse down the line.

Also, the execs who took the billions in payout should have been shot prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Same with the legislators and regulators who wrote such awfully drafted laws that allowed them to allocate the bailout money to that.

I would have split the difference at bailing out the banks, but the CEOs must have their blood harvested in installments until the debt is paid off. If they are of poor health, well then their blood will simply be drained for the rest of their natural lives.

I'm sorry that's wrong. Lehman was allowed to collapse because they needed a fall guy and the narrative you just repeated to ease the $10 trillion in bank bailouts through. The only way they got away with that is convincing you that the world would end if they didn't. It was bullshit.

Let the bad banks fail and things might've been shaky for two months until new banks were formed and the good assets that remained redistributed via the bankruptcy process. You know, the capitalist free market way. A whole bunch of really rich people would've been wiped out though and we just can't have that, your future be damned. Instead they printed $10 trillion out of thin air, gave it to the bad banks and reinflated all the already artificially-inflated assets. That's why a house that was already overpriced at $100k in 2006 is now $500k today. All they did was kick the can down the road for 20 more years and in the process used up all their zero interest rate tricks to keep it inflated so now they can't do it again and the collapse is going to real real bad.

Capitalism isn’t really working if people can fuck up as much as the bankers did and they don’t end up permanently homeless bums we can all spit on and abuse. Every dollar they earn in any job they can get should be garnished for two dollars. Bail out the banks, sink the bankers.
