When I worked at google HQ, one of the "senior" guys on my team was just doing activism. All day. Every day. He would show up at the office ~1 time a month and have lunch with us. The rest of the time he was out doing tranny-rights activism.

The problem is gibs. The Romans had a democracy, and it fell as the the movement to help the poor went from the creation of the Tribune of the Plebes position, to Marius v Sulla, Optimates v Poplulares, Caesar, land for soldiers, corn dole, etc. The People voted for moar gibs.

Now under the Principate and Imperial era, the votes were meaningless. Democracy was limited to a local level. Emperors were mostly generals, head of the Imperial bodyguard, Praetorian Prefects, Magister Militiums, or children of emperors. Gibs problem solved, right?

But after centuries of this, Justinian found out during the Nika Riots, the voice of the umployed, gibs eating masses, must not be ignored. Pretty much the main reason for the existence of Rome and Constantinople was for a place for poor, unskilled, unemployment millions to live in and get free food, while the rest of the Empire (ie vast majority) chugged along in the country.

Unless all the public are in full control of the government and get to vote on as many individual policies as logistically possible it's not a true democracy.

Trump's repeated it the whole campaign "they're trying to take my freedom because I refuse to let them take yours", he knows the real contempt in Washington is for the American public. It's the people that put Trump in the White House the first time and this has been the greatest insult, the people bucked and refused to continue the dog and pony show.

It's no longer just about cheap labor and buying votes from illegals, it's about punishing anyone they see as "the enemy", the mask is gone, and they have no problem revealing the malicious and evil monsters they've always been. Trump didn't walk away in 2020 and MAGA didn't die. This was the final straw that sent them into a total rage.

We'll see it come to a head in September, that's when Merchan is supposed to formally sentence Trump for his "crimes".

Consider that of the Watergate break-in team, the one that flipped on Nixon turned out to be working with the FBI against Nixon all along. The Break-in team went to Federal Prison for Obstruction, because none of the rest would blame Nixon. G. Gordon Liddy spent a decade in six different Federal prisons, six because he kept getting prison staff in legal trouble, and had nothing but good things to say about the man. Nixon is basically Trump if Trump were a Quaker and an intellectual.

Full of it. Clicks are active engagement and there's no way we can tell if the false positives will create true positives or not. Better to ignore them so you don't get bombarded with her ads.

Now, if Trump said this, I might consider it since he doesn't have a reason to lie.
