Don't say "stock brokers jumping out windows". The 2008 crash taught us all that the "stock brokers an heroing themselves via defenestration in 1929" thing was just a lie pushed by the media to make the rabble think the men behind the great depression killed themselves in penance for the apocalypse they caused crashing the economy with Johnny survivors like they did.

Not true.

People KNEW the Holocaust was happening, especially in Europe.

They just chose to go lalalala and ignore it, which is why villages and cities near the camps were forced to tour them when the war ended, as locals pissed off GIs when they claimed ignorance. Or in the US, it was treated with disbelief or notions that it couldn't be on the scale murder-wise that was being said as to be happening.

And the former is even scarier as far as indictment of mankind. So long as bread and circus is provided, people will literally turn away from genocide and mass murder of political enemies of the state. Even when locals start going missing.

The ultimate goal of every government is to control the population. A stupid, atomized population is easier to control as a mass, even if they're more unruly as individuals.
