these guys have completely given up and have resigned themselves to fucking each other in cat ear headbands.
I genuinely don't understand it myself. All throughout my own adolescence the main goal for most
ordinary gay folk (not any of the bullshit drag queen shit, mind) was to just treat gayness as an ordinary thing undeserving of special attention or advantages; just raise the bare minimum treatment enough to not get shit on by the fundamentalist groups that were in-vogue at the time.
They got that, and their biggest bad guys are all but irrelevant now. I've brought up Westboro as a good example of one of their boogeymen at the time.
At the time, when the LGB crowd got what they'd wanted, you could look at groups like that and call them
cartoonishly intolerant; like mustache-twirling levels that you couldn't possibly take seriously because of how simply outlandishly they behaved. But now? It's like the whole LGB movement
regressed, took a step back, and went back to 'oh no, we're totally oppressed again, guys, words are murder etc etc', and now we're taking that old, cartoonish level of intolerance seriously again and pretending the treatment of
ordinary gays is lower than it's ever been (rather we're
expected to treat it that way by them). The boogeymen were well and truly vanquished, gays were put on the same playing field as everybody else, but that wasn't enough.
Yet LGB folk, and I've mentioned 'ordinary' gays (the plainfolk who just want to be left the fuck alone and be treated like any other person), by and large got what they wanted, and this only suddenly became some manufactured problem when the T got stuck on there.
Wasn't it good enough to be able to fuck each other in peace? I'd say it were, I'm all for it. But now you have to tack on the cat ears and girldick and
then it will be good enough?
