General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

From the way she spoke on stream its seems like a dispute with cover that they wouldnt let her move forward in a direction she wanted or the way the company was moving forward. If I've translated that right. Most likely a contract thing were shes not renewing or some internal shit is happening with cover. It seems amicable unlike Mel and Rushia.

The problem recently with Cover is its become more geared toward the entertainment company route with concerts, tie ins and hundred of backhround projects. I'm sure Kiara has flown to Japan 3 times in the past month for work shit.

Now if this is a RRat on the Chinese relationship that covers trying to mend it wouldn't surprise me if Aqua is the first of many. We learned last time how god awful it was and everyone was overworked so don't be shocked if that happens. Aqua got hounded during the Taiwan Coco incident to the point she was on a break for a lenghty period.

From Pekoras Stream.
She got the message from Cover: Minato Aqua will graduate on such and such day.
Peko immediately discord messaged her.
Pekora: Aqua. What the hell is this.
Aqua: This is awkward.
They were planning on having dinner together. Aqua said, if it's too awkward we can cancel that, but Peko basically said, dinner is on but be prepared for intense questioning!
So Peko thought about how she would spend the next few months.
One thing she decided was to try and play with Aqua as much as possible. That actually brought her plans for ARK forward. Peko was thinking of taking it a bit easy after Minecraft hardcore, but she messaged management and asked them to make the ARK project happen as soon as possible.
Peko wants to play with her more, but she understands other Holomem do too and Aqua probably has her stream plans.
To Pekora of the past, she wants to say, You should get closer to her sooner.
At the dinner, of course, Pekora wanted to tell Aqua, don't graduate! But thought to herself, saying that to someone who has clearly put a lot of thought into it and resolved themself to take this step, is not right. So she ended up not saying that to Aqua.
Pekora won't talk about this anymore after today and focus on having fun.

Wouldnt be surprised if she's been planning it for a while we'll probaby never know the reason for her leaving. Wouldn't be a stretch to say she'll take a break then go Indie or join another Corpo

Edit: Its always funny when a Vtuber graduates and the rrats come out for all sorts of reasons when simply it could just be because they want to. 6 years is a long time for someone to basically be a vtuber and have no support on your IRL side maybe she just wants to go at it on her own.

can verify the cosplay pics for airi but the not the rest. Rie's 3 pics were found by rie super fan superduper on tva

I'll be honest I feel like some of you are starting to toe the line of the 2nd commandment of this thread. I would find it really funny if the thing that did this thread in wasn't actually any anime related content, but people going "Awooga" at the people behind the avatars.
its says dont thirst for 2d not 3dpg

The popular speculation from the JP side of things, which is even trending on JP twitter now because of how regularly JP fans are mentioning it, has nothing to do with any thoughts on China (I'll be real the fixation and rratposting on that topic is a mostly western thing by a wide margin) Is that the disagreement from Aqua is more related to her not wanting as much pressure on the "Idol route" side of holo and instead wanting to just stream as a gaming streamer who happens to sing sometimes like was the case for holo when she first joined (Hololive didn't start going hard on the idol side of things until partway through it's existance) Hololive as a company is a very different animal than it was at the time someone like Aqua first joined, so something like that wouldn't be that surprising to me, and everything about this graduation seems to be amicable even with whatever disagreement is going on.

This is what seems like the most likely of reasons to me. She just wants to do gaming streams and after 6 years cover is moving towards the concert/entertainment industry route and she just says nah. Wouldnt be surprised girl has forced herself to be an extrovert for years shes probably nearing a heart attack.

Plus the whole perms shit that cover has implemented since the capcom debacle probably hasnt helped.
Realistically they just arrived at a crossroads and Aquas taking another path. Which shes entitled to do. Im glad shes getting a graudation stream and not a shitshow of speculation that was Rushias termination.

Given the length some of these girls have been in Holo, leaving now doesn't seem absurd. Some of them are 6+ years deep.
Honestly, the lifetime of a professional vtuber should be about 5 years. Use that time to build up skills in presentation, art, singing, or whatever else. Gain connections in media. Retire from streaming and get yourself launched as an “up and coming” celebrity in the career of your choice.

I know how divination works but you can't convince me that Mio isn't a witch
Man I will really miss Aqua, one of the first vtuber I ever watched back then. Overall one of the best gamers in Hololive with crazy achievements like beating Sekiro without healing or beating it in under 1 hour. She is a true gamer at heart but I always had the impression that Aqua likes the idol stuff.
The AquShio Minecraft Neighbor War will never be forgotten (turn on CC)
or watch this longer playlist of more clips of it

I really don’t understand Nip business practices.

Aqua currently has over 2 million subs. What percent of their entire talent has that many? She is still very popular and is still a money printer with merch, sponsorships, etc.

I don’t see how it’s smart business to just let an IP and character they have built up just walk. I wonder what percent of the OG talents are also tired of the idol grind bullshit. If most seemingly don’t mind the grind and idol bullshit, then there shouldn’t be complaints of unfair treatment, but even if there was you’d still tell them to fuck off because she’s a veteran who has earned the right to work as they please (seemingly like Gura has).

I remember Okayu talking about how he wanted to quit Hololive when the company started to involve Gamers in the idol stuff too but she stayed Nevermind, this was a mistranslated clip. I need to learn moonrunes...
I wouldn't be too surprised if a lot of the oldheads started graduating due to burnout, having to do multimedia and idol shit and not being able to do what they want.

Gura (according to what she says, anyway) does a TON of off-stream work, it's very likely a lot of the non-streaming talents still do a ton of the idol shit, just don't stream. I'm assuming here, but I wouldn't be surprised if the managers/company tailors the work to the talents somewhat (like how Laplus wants to do more edited content, etc), but it's likely that since Aqua is one of their biggest names, they wanted her to do more idol/multimedia stuff and she just wasn't onboard. Again, hopefully nothing nefarious happened behind the scenes.

The question sort of cuts in both directions. One might ask "why would they let her walk" but at the same time why would she choose to if she could just do a Gura.

It's hard to understand from our POV because we don't' know the particulars of the disagreement, What aqua did or did not want to do, and what Hololive couldn't compromise on.

In general though as a business move, idk I'd rather see something like this with just an amicable parting of ways and moving on, then a Nijisanji Roa situation where an IP is kept strung along for years just to milk merch money out of fans. And well, at the end of the day Cover has had basically this exact same moment with Coco (differences in surrounding circumstances aside) where they let a big earner walk (arguably, at that time at least, an even bigger one than Aqua was.) and came out of the situation generally fine and still growing. and there's not much reason to think that won't be the case here too.

That being said I do at the back of my mind expect to see a similar situation occur down the line with Shion like if I had to put a bet on which old member would be likely to hang it up next it would 1000% be her.

Completely unrelated but there's a poster in the Mori thread on /vt/ who always leaks little previews of upcoming song releases that he manages to datamine out of streaming platforms like itunes ahead of time and he apparantly got the preview for the upcoming album version of Sneaking featuring Lotus Juice.
