The Sharty is mentioned in Wikipedia's article on imageboards (that's how I found this article), so it's probably not that far off.

you need multiple sources and not just one in order to make an article. so more sources need to know about the sharty before wiki jannies decide it's good enough for an article. Also, the Daily Dot itself isn't considered reliable nor unreliable by Wikipedia jannies.
