I am curious about this.Anyway, I didn't mean to pl, and sorry if I derailed a bit. I will check in with her in a few days and see if her views, or rather her awareness of the situation, are changing.
I wonder if she knows what the "grooming gangs" (ie child sex trafficking) scandals are?
These are the most famous (Rotherham, Rochdale), but they happened in many other cities.
I think an important question to ask is also whether she thinks we should collect data on ethnicity of perpetrators. If she doesn't want to, why not? Would that not prove once and for all that it is not certain people who commit a disproportionate amount of crimes?
This is the report published by the government. In the foreword:
Edit: sorry, link of the report here https://assets.publishing.service.g...nt_data/file/944206/Group-based_CSE_Paper.pdfSome studies have indicated an over-representation of Asian and Black offenders. However, it is difficult to draw conclusions about the ethnicity of offenders as existing research is limited and data collection is poor.
This is disappointing because community and cultural factors are clearly relevant to understanding and tackling offending. Therefore, a commitment to improve the collection and analysis of data on group-based child sexual exploitation, including in relation to characteristics of offenders such as ethnicity and other factors, will be included in the forthcoming Tackling Child Sexual Abuse Strategy.
