The British Summer of Discontent - The growing civil unrest of the native British population, sparked by the murder of 3 young girls in Southport

You can always explain to them that chillis - that vital component of Indian cooking - are not native to India but were introduced via European colonials and trade.
I was in too much genuine shock, so I instead asked if they were being retarded as a joke, or being genuinely retarded? Which sort of ended the conversation...

Bit of a sidenote, but I've been following a few of the fundraisers and stuff that have popped up in various areas after the riots to see if any funny business goes on, and came across this one from a place called Middlesbrough. Apparently, some carer who lives there had his car torched in the riots, and his employer decided to start a fundraiser for him to raise 3k for a car which massively exceeded all expectations, reaching over 65k. Nice, right? Nope, lol.

His employer has now retroactively decided to help herself to a portion of the money (which she apparently intends to distribute to her staff, or something?) and has edited the description of the fundraiser to change what any excess will be used for after people already donated money specifically for this Brendan guy. Luckily, people screenshotted this, and it's now causing a minor amount of socialmedia drama in that city/town, apparently.

I could be wrong, but am I not mistaken in assuming that this would count as fundraiser fraud? Maybe some Kiwi's more clued up on the legality of this sort of shit could chime in and let me know.

The Guardian has gone full-blown, unironic "We live in a mass surveillance police state and THAT'S A GOOD THING" I literally can't even deal with this level of mask-off.

Video doorbells, CCTV, facial recognition: how the police tracked UK rioters

praise fo' da police comin' straight from the liars' mouth

EDIT - Forgot I wanted to post the last paragraph which is choice, they admit they're directly "inspired" by the shill NGOs (the N being meaningless in this case):
If the current UK government enforces the Online Safety Act, I hope the likes of Telegram, Signal and Meta tell them to fuck off. It's unfortunate the pushback against it wasn't harsh enough, and no political party in the UK opposed that stupid bill.

It’s an odd split. The ones who agree, or who don’t but are fine with an opposing opinion are the ones who have made something of themselves (not talking millionaires here, just job/house/kids, the bar is low where I’m from…) the ones who are still adult children are furious. Genuinely, really furious. They have nothing to back it up, and they get mad. It’s like a microcosm of the world. I can back it up (thanks KF for the screenshots!) and they just kind of huff and get annoyed.
I wonder which comes first - not having made anything of yourself leading to these attitudes or these attitudes leading not making something of yourself. I lean towards the latter as that sort of change needs to come from within, really.

I've encountered that fury as well. It reminds me of a child afraid you're going to get everyone into trouble.
Am curious as to how others experience is with this. I’m sure there would have been some fisticuffs if I was younger and male
My case is smaller scale but basically a detente in which a subject is not talked about.

None of this is really about migrants, having more muzzies is a secondary concern, the dirty thieving orangemen are not siding with the based and honorable fenians (that was a PR stunt), there are English loyalists too, and while the threat of a border in the Irish Sea threatens the United Kingdom, the threat of losing the drug routes into Northern Ireland is an existential threat for some fucking ruthless people.

There's going to be more trouble, and it'll have fuck all to do with boomers, soyboys and crusty dykes marching with pro-palestine banners, and nothing to do with whatever nigger or pajeet jibs a supreme whyteboi, even though that'll probably set it off.
Honestly, if this drug shit turns out to be something like the Mexican cartel wars, and it manages to cross paths with the “Muslims Out” campaign going on now, I doubt any rioters or British patriots are going to complain.

Oddly, at a family gathering last weekend one entire branch confessed they’d not taken the vaccine and there was oooooooooh an awful lot of talk about it, not as in telling them off but a kind of unease at a minor /large ish faction having not obeyed and them not being aware of it previously. Like a kind of shifting of ‘oh shit maybe we were wrong.’
I love them all, it’s frustrating seeing some be so blinkered. I enjoy arguing with the ones who like an argument, and I wish more people were still like that. Argue, then back to normal and make a cuppa and talk about cousin ‘s new baby. How it should be. I do t mind people disagreeing with me one bit, I’m happy to hear a genuine argument of there is one and sometimes they have changed how I think, but there’s fewer and fewer who are like that, they are very entrenched in one side or the other. I can see the propaganda working
I suspect some think I’m nuts, some think I’m right, and some seem to be nervous to even hear such opinions.

I've been arguing with family over the state of this country for a while, though not so much any more. One fam member is full on conspiracy theorist (retired but was a successful carpenter), he's funny to talk to. One friend of the family is full on lefty (not a NEET, but he is a bit odd) and will aggressively make claims which then devolve into shit-slinging (he is also of an ethnic persuasion I am not fond of, though his dad seems based). When the vaxx came out, I was vehemently against it and calling anyone who got it retarded. Though no one I know got more than the original shot and 1 booster, and most haven't really had any real consequences, except one who seems to have long covid but she could just be a hypochondriac (she is a bit of a nutter and tarded, though often has a heart of gold). Nowadays though I think everyone is convinced that shits going downhill fast, we talk about events but not as much anymore and it usually ends with "fucking shithole, shit's fucked etc..".

One thing I don't understand is that even though the amount of times the media's bullshit is obvious and we've talked about it, sometimes they'll bring it up articles or stories as a unbiased source even though it very obviously isn't.

The lack of basic media analysis is one of the things I find most irksome. It reminds me of the 'when you argue with boomers, you're arguing with the TV, and the TV can't hear you, and it doesn't care.'. The average person just uncritically takes in peoples opinions and then regurgitates them. I don't get it. Maybe I'm an insane sperg (I am), who is paranoid about whatever I read (I am), but I really, don't see how normal people do it.

I posted a few days ago about this. Half my family is like me and the other half is firmly fingers in ears to reality, free Palestine, welcome refugees.
It makes for some interesting gatherings and certainly post-covid it's got very heated. I'm also a woman and it can get intimidating when the men start standing up and pointing fingers in my face, but I've found that nothing dissolves them quicker than laughter.

Reminder that to "Own the fenians" the Orange Order let gentlemen like these join.

Arent there very small Orange Orders in Africa?

I went to the Caribbean as a kid and the old people there loved the Queen, it wouldn’t surprise me if being in an Orange Lodge in Africa isn’t some sort of a post-colonial “fuck you“ to the chaos of their governments after the glorious Eternal Anglo left.

I half remember seeing a documentary about an African Orange Lodge?

I'm lucky in that my close family are pretty open to things and I've been able to use this site to show them stuff that the normal news media does not, so they are a lot more informed than the average person. I do wish my Grandfather was around though to talk to, as he was technically an immigrant of sorts (Burmese), but he worked hard, was in the Merchant Navy, and despised people who were lazy etc., so would have been interesting to see his opinion.
Co-workers are a mixed bag, my boss and older women co-workers are generally far more against immigration and are annoyed at the sheer amount of benefits that immigrants get when a lot of their own families struggle to get help. Younger ones aren't as chatty about political topics, and the rest are immigrants themselves, so they don't really discuss it much either.

How much money do you think would be saved if you deployed a few soldiers to the coast over how much is spent dealing with immigrants invading via boat?

Most of my close relatives are right-wing. There's one or two that are lefty. Despite being right wing, one of my relatives is really against the riots to the point that I've started to avoid speaking politics with him. For my extended family as well as some close relatives, I'm not sure since I don't speak with them about it. I also don't know them that well.

Not sure about my neighbours, but their dogs, German Shepherds, are far-right fascists, they're always barking about how we need to secure a future for Germanic canines and exterminate the Borzois and XL Bully Dogs. There's also these annoying beagle and border collie dogs that come barking at me and my dogs whenever we walk past, they're probably globalists.

The UK government has serious contempt for their citizens. Putting them at serious risk of violence and detention and you can see why I keep telling my relatives not to go there.

Thats most western governments these days. They see the native population as an obstacle to their version of paradise (aka Hell).

Politics these days are bunch of hoopla to disguise the disgust they all feel for us. Most politicians haven't had a single hard day in their lives and they tend to not relate to the struggles of the commoner, almost always seeing them from their helicopters where everyone looks like a featureless ant.

Co-workers
Don’t talk to coworkers about politics, especially in the UK. You’re there to do a job, not to put the world to rights — and you’re infinitely more likely to end up on some government list than change any minds. Same goes for family members tbh. Remember how eager the UK government is to get people to snitch on neighbors and family over everything — even small shit like hose pipe bans. And the Brits are all too willing to tell on them.

Just keep your mouth shut, do your job and go home.

At the very least it wouldn't take long for the gunboats to pay for themselves.

What's the sweet's actual name?
Unless I'm remembering wrong, it's Loukoumi.

I don't know if 'actual' is the right word here 'cause the origins are contested, but I like to think that saying so would spite the turks so whatever.

Edit: Bugger, I was late. But yeah, call it the non-turk name when you're about as a conversation starter or something.

Every single one of these pictures is from a different city. None of the pictured areas suffered riot damage, though neighboring areas did:

In response to this, Washington State made it a crime to open carry at a protest.
I remember the video that the very last screencap is from, there were also cops present and the BLM protestors thanked the police for keeping them safe. :story:

They've been given a new enemy thanks to UK/Eire regimes, but their rhetoric is no different from what it ever has been: "Invaders out, X land for X people". I suspect what we will see over the coming decade will be far, far worse than the troubles.
I think, if this anything kicks off then this is the calm before the storm. My question is where they're gonna get new weapons/ammo/explosives from... China? The US (IRA support is mainly American)? Russian GRU/SVR? Other criminal gangs (mainly Muslim)?
Honestly, if this drug shit turns out to be something like the Mexican cartel wars, and it manages to cross paths with the “Muslims Out” campaign going on now, I doubt any rioters or British patriots are going to complain.
If the drug shit kicks into full gear you'll see cartel type violence in NI with mass executions. Hopefully the sides involved don't have ritutal sacrifice bullshit in their religion like they do in the Americas.
