I've often said that I'd tolerate any physical condition as long as my mind is still functioning, I am at least alive......then I consider locked-in syndrome and I shudder and second guess myself. I think that is one of the very few cases where euthanasia should not only be allowed, it should be encouraged. There are few fates that are literal hell on earth, but that's one of em.

Thank you for the detailed reply. It really does seem like that South Park episode, it's a big spiderweb of legal precedents and market frameworks. It seems perfectly setup to encourage this stuff, and then you've got the ideologues spreading throughout the consultancy side of it, like GPs and therapists, and it's all backed up by educational institutions! Wow. It seems like the sort of solution you'd want for something like keeping an industry from going overseas, y'know, incentives and whatnot.
It's all so complicated that you really have to have an interest to work any of this stuff out. Evangelists and vulnerable, lost souls on twitter who flip out over innocuous wording don't stand a chance. Ignorance here is definitely not bliss, it's utterly corrupting. Young people need to be taught critical thinking skills more. Not just how to question things, but how to rationalise and derive their own viewpoints, how to evaluate their worldview, lest they end up indoctrinated to being images in this thread, or worse.

No apologies necessary. I've been on here a while now and I still have trouble with some functions.

The legal precedent is fragile IMO. SCOTUS judges (or other bureaucrats) are not supposed to make law here, democratically elected legislators are. Like it or not, that's what the Dobbs ruling (and that Chevron one to some degree) were all about. And Gorsuch himself remarked that the Bostock/Harris Funeral Home tranny ruling was about that single case of employment discrimination- not bathrooms, not sports, etc. Not the whole tranny menace enchilada.

There have been attempts to get a federal law (the Equality Act) voted in by Congress. (There was even a Republican version that simply exempted religious orgs. Thanks, GOP.) But thankfully neither have gotten any real traction. And with the way things have been going, that's more unlikely than ever now.

Meanwhile some states have been busy crafting tranny friendly anti discrimination laws for a while now. They have already made gender identity officially no different from the other protected classes of sex or race and wedged it firmly into state law wherever they can. It's trendy to become a "Sanctuary state" like CA now. Blue states are scrambling to virtue signal (and pointedly meddle) with that. But eventually those laws will be challenged and found unconstitutional or whatever. States cannot expect to protect their tranny doctors from malpractice lawsuits originating from other states, to take custody of runaway kids from non resident parents, or get in between divorced mothers and fathers living in different states battling over their kid, etc. In the US states can make their own laws on certain subjects, but states can't willfully fuck with other state laws. Or other state's residents. Eventually that's going to be hand slapped in a big way.

I'm no legal fag, so I couldn't say what's going to be the first domino to get the whole Trans Mania thing to collapse in the judicial realm. Or if it'll be one big one that does the job. Or when. But as an attentive amateur I do think something's coming. There's plenty of dominoes being lined up out there: the red state Title IX lawsuits against the federal gov, the medical malpractice suits against the American Academy of Pediatrics, the various lawsuits concerning trannys behaving badly in women's prisons, the Moms For Liberty suit against the US Dept of Education over Title IX, etc. Eventually the lawsuits will start over the sanctuary state laws too, once people run face first into that retardation.

We only know about her from the medical side, whereas almost all the disasters here are self-reported by the happy victim.

Other than Dialysis Dood, the disasters in this thread are all contained in the area of the surgery: it's posts of horror crotches with the occasional breast mangle or withering skinned forearm. Surely there are more strokes, more pulmonary emboli and probably even more people on dialysis after running through marathon pyelonephritis and a battery of last-chance antibiotics.

I decided to go back in the thread to dig up @Thomas Eugene Paris excellent post on the topic, and she said this.

The fact that they concluded intervention would be pointless in an otherwise healthy 23 year old suggests to me she was down for hours, possibly even a day or so.

So yeah, my 3 day estimate was likely a wild exaggeration, but 1 whole day might not be too far off from the truth.

There's always the possibility that it happened at night, so you have that ~8 hours where nobody worries that someone isn't answering, before you have work or friends starting to wonder the next day.

Even if someone has a job and multiple friends, they might not be comparing notes among each other. With a really young person, "medical emergency" isn't anyone's first thought; you'd think they're doing something else or having phone trouble.

This is one of the reasons this case is interesting to me, though. A disabling stroke is tragic but not, sadly, unusual; the age is remarkable but that's it. It's all the unanswered questions about the person's social situation, and wondering what went on in the aftermath.

You bring up a good point though, regardless of the situation for this particular woman. You can't throw a stone in an online "queer" space without someone telling you to cut off your family and friends for not affirming you. For your own mental health, of course. It's outright dangerous to live with non-affirming family. But are the members of your new "rainbow family" likely to notice that you haven't gotten out of bed this morning, and will they try to wake you up?

Are Redditors going to drive you to dialysis? Are fellow pooners going to log off from their fanfic goon sessions and come visit you in a care facility every day, for decades? What are the costs of cutting off all your old ties and associating yourself with a group of people who view all relationships as transient and transactional, right before you start your adventure into a world of unethical experimental medical treatments that are more likely than not to be disabling in the long term?

The strange thing, too, is that they're an ideological group that focuses on local organization, and features surgeries as their holy rites. Shouldn't there be a list of volunteers who help a post-op pooner shampoo her hair, the same way their hair was shampooed after their own mastectomy X years ago?
