I don't know how many of you are aware of Imane Khelif's story in the Olympics, but oh my god, she just won gold and it was incredible. You see, Khelif has been falsely accused of being a man or being trans by many anti-trans activists. We're talking J.K. Rowling, Elon Musk, even Donald Trump has put out lies about her.
Here's the thing, though. She was assigned female at birth. She isn't even trans. The International Boxing Association disqualified her for failing an unspecified sex test, and the leader claims that she has XY chromosomes. Now, this is, of course, after she fought with a Russian boxer and it was led by a Russian oligarch. Now, you should know that there are many women, cisgender women, who have XY chromosomes and don't even know it. Some have even given birth.
The whole outrage against her has been ludicrous, and it shows how far the anti-trans right as a group will go to tear down any athlete that doesn't meet their definition of what a woman should be. But that doesn't matter, because as soon as Khelif stepped onto the stage, the entire arena was cheering for her. And when she won, she was celebrated not only by those in the crowd, but even by the boxer who she just competed with.
So, congratulations to Khelif, and to all of those who smeared her name like J.K. Rowling, and Elon Musk and Donald Trump, be mad. You're never going to take her gold medal away.
