How he's getting away with selling someone else's art I have no fucking idea. So yeah basically he's going out of his way to be an unofficial (and unwanted) representative of the game right now, all for monetary gain and to feed his own ego, of course. So it makes his twitter "hot takes" even worse.

It's pretty common for voice actors to do this sort of thing, companies turn a blind eye because it's mostly benign PR that makes the fans happy. I'm sure someone at SE is now running the numbers to see what the financial and PR risk is if they terminate their contract with the US studio.

So it's a funny little box. If he's selling them directly, and not just autographing them, then this is probably something that SE could send Cease & Desists for, if it cared. The reality is, it probably doesn't really give that much of a shit, and so long as the fanart being sold is like what's presented there - just (horribly proportioned) normal-ass art, then they're not gonna care. Most C&Ds go out for, like, pornographic or otherwise offensive content featuring the characters.

But seriously, look at how fucking big those tits are relative to the cat's head on the left. That anatomy is just freaky.

The main problem is that he's acting like he IS the character, and he's perhaps the first VA I can think of that has been anywhere near this... badly received. It's a confluence of things, really - normies getting peak trans'd, Wuk Lamat being an insufferably awful character, and a genuinely atrocious performance that drops one of the fakest accents I've ever heard every other line with zero emotive range. I think it's really the first time that Square is going to find themselves in this position. Previously they've not really cared when the Western base is up in arms about anything, but this has been a pretty big blowback. That the expansion is still sitting at mixed, like, everywhere, is a big deal.

I think they'll complete the contract, which is probably for all of 7.x, and not renew with the company for 8.x. They don't even have to say it's due to Wuk - I will make myself a sticky note to actually pull apart the audio I have sometime this week to demonstrate just how badly SE got swindled, lol. The studio really did hand them absolute fucking dung.

Kate, I'm willing to be a bit more lenient on because she's worked with Square for a number of years. But man, if she was the point person on the EN localization and IF she did play as major a role in the VA selections, she really needs to have her knuckles rapped. I honestly don't know a fuck of a lot about her, but she seems like a weird, quirky weeb/nerd.

She's also being smart by battening down the hatches and not engaging with idiots on Twitter, which was started thanks to Mark Kern, shitstain that he is, shoving his faucet dick into XIV with his grifter bullshit.

E: It's also fucking hilarious that we have the other VA talent who have won awards, produced plays, been in TV shows and Sena is over here going full Uncle Rico. Motherfucker knows he's peaked, (but it won't stop him from leveraging it into low level anime dubs, etc.)

I wouldn't be as lenient on Kate despite the years she's worked with the team. If she's managed to fuck up on this colossal scale at the first taste of power and authority, I would not trust her as far I could throw her. Her DEI bullshit was only checked by Koji and the moment he turned his attention onto something else and let her take over, she started scheming on how to turn everything she had power over into her own personal vision for the game.
Sena was absolutely a nepo hire and if not that, at the very least hired for the sole fact that he's pretending to be a broad because he sure as shit was not hired because of his skill in voice acting. A troon nobody VA barely getting any work to just suddenly skyrocket up the career chain to land a leading role in one of the most popular MMOs without any prior training or any other notable roles under his belt? Who just happens to be friends with Kate, the leading fucking director responsible for procuring the voices for this trashheap of an expansion? Who has a history of being a fetid piece of shit on social media toward actual women and just people in general? I can only assume that Kate's deranged fantasies were only allowed to go forward because she happens to be friends with the right people and that she used her position as the "lore" person to "help" the writer portray certain people or cultures in a specific way.

She's just as responsible for how trash Dawntrail is as the brainlet writer. Her one saving grace is that she's smart enough to keep her mouth shut to save herself from burning at the stake because without this job she is nothing.

One too optimistic way i can see things going is if money actually went down and Square lit a fire under their asses to not do divisive or shit storylines since XIV's recurring income is seemingly one of the few ways they keep afloat and finance other projects

I'm really loathe to go this route as I think the only definitive thing we can point to is the shit with the Pixies and their pronouns. I absolutely would not be surprised if she's trying to go full progressive retard, but I also have to think that she has enough of an understanding of Japan that if this sort of shit is poorly received, it'd be career suicide for her.

FWIW, I absolutely agree that Sena was the result of cronyism. Those kinds of industries are very cutthroat and it's very 'who you know.'

I know it'll never happen, but I'd be very curious to hear the various auditions for the role and see what the competition was.

Remember this is SE and they deal in face culture, while it is in their best interests to nuke them they could just as easily quadruple down on being retards, the company itself (and Japanese companies in general) has a long history of that.

Companies like SE do give a shit about financial failure, though, and if Dawntrail is critically panned and isn't performing well (along with 16 and the 7 Remake...) things might start happening.

Users are also talking about being excited to see Yoshida perform a bow in the next Live Letter to apologize for Dawntrail. The ingame blacklist has a limit, but if you're modding then you should install Visibility (Main Repo Plugin). It doesn't have a limit and has worked like how the new ingame blacklist does for several months before it got updated. You can also see the reasons for blacklists while in a duty, unlike the ingame one. (I know i'm quoting something from several pages back, just wanted to mention this.)
