Before this shitshow started, I read on wikipedia of all places that the guy was banned for having XY chromosomes from some other boxing matches. It makes me feel crazy. And that's the point, to make anyone who doubts their cultish vision of "true reality" feel like a crazy person and allow themselves to be brainwashed into their "truth".

I blame social media. I think most people lack the amount of critical thinking required to handle the sheer flood of things they are "supposed to" have an opinion on and just fall into a group to which they subscribe wholesale. They have no genuine opinion of their own. If their social media tribe would dictate to them that Imane Khelif should be murdered (which would be equally retarded and wrong, he should get to live his life peacefully, just not while taking part in women sports) most people would just fall in line and join in on the murder fanasies. They are herd animals. There are some actors that apparently know this well and obviously exploit it to the fullest extend for their own purposes. What these actors cannot have is discord or people challenging the narrative, as it thins their herd with which they get things done. That's how non-issues for most suddenly turn into matters of life and death. Contrary to popular belief, people saying mean things to you on the internet is not life-ending.

I'm a fairly liberal guy myself, (and some people that would want to see me jailed for my opinions would be surprised on how many things I actually share their opinion with, if it is their opinion that is) but I don't join in on the narrative that you can just choose your sex like an icecream flavor, just like Rowling does. Until a few years ago I barely had an opinion on the topic and even went as far as to say that I don't really care if men want to pretend to be women if it makes them happy. This is exactly the kind of magic in the books, though - especially in the more childish early books. Making someone belch slugs. Making someone who blabbed a secret break out in pimples which spell "SNITCH" on their face. Giving every student who tried to sneak into an age-restricted tournament comical old man beards. Cursing the reader of a magic book to speak only in limericks. Tons of examples. The pew-pew shit only happens in the movies (and in parts of the book where the exact spells used are unimportant). If anything, the main difference between "good" witches/wizards and "bad" witches/wizards is that the baddies get the boring kill/torture/control spells while the goodies use goofier spells that make your feet dance out of control etc.

Say what you want about the inconsistent magic system (I won't even argue - it IS inconsistent), but the general flavor of HP world more than makes up for the lack of autism. At least if you're a child.
