Its one thing if theres a sibling or family connection. When I was in hs, my friends had siblings but only like 1-2 were chill enough to hang with my friend group at the time.However because he was already in High School when he met and befriended a middle schooler, its weird.
The only way I could see a high schooler befriending a middle schooler is if they were weird anime kids who were terminally online and both outcasts or if they had the 'tism and bonded over something nerdy like D&D or filmography but even then its still pretty sus.
Another possibly explanation is the small size of the school they went to. Greenville Christian Academy as of 2021-22 only had an enrollment total of 287 people from K-12. Thats roughly 22 kids per grade so some friend overlap in grades would make more sense, especially if it was a super Christian school as that kind of small community lives in their own bubble. Those types of places operate on completely different social dynamics vs a public school with 450+ kids / grade.
