There have been trails in the past, when minors are testifying, , the camera is on the lawyer and not the minor's face. You only hear their voice. The minor's face is usually protected from the public eye. That being said, it depends on the jurisdiction of the trail.

I suspect the point is indeed to prevent tainting the jury pool; once the jury is seated, THEN A/V recording may be allowed by the judge.

1. The most obvious: yes, Hardin asked to record "everything". The judge can restrict recording to what is within the rules. So don't allow recording minors then. Duh.
