If I recall, poori is from the Indian subcontinent, which consisted those countries: India, Maldives, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. They are also used for panipuri, which is a common street food in India. Panipuri's origin is also from North India, which its birthplace is currently known as Uttar Pradesh, which is where the Taj Mahal is. i agree with sam, poori is actually pretty good, but as has been discussed in this thread, a lot of what passes as indian food isnt even originally indian. wouldnt be suprised if this was also the case with poori.
