Unpopular Opinions about Video Games

RE4 Remake is better than the original. Separate Ways was more fun in the original game, however. And Jim Ward is the best voice for Jack Krauser, but other than that, the Remake is gravy.

Although, at first, I weren't too keen on what they did with Lord Saddler, as I was looking back on his cool and collected, power-hungry villain demeanour in the original game, but overtime, my stance changed. I like that he was a descendant of the cult, and that the King or Queen Plaga chose him, and consumed his body and mind.
R4make is a lot more fun on repeat runs or if you're doing a challenge run. I love the original but it's an incredibly easy game even on the hardest difficulty.

That's true. Yeah, if you're good at timing things, and I'm not, at least, not the first several times, you can cheese through it.

They must have been really confused by Summer Games Fest back in June.

Imagine receiving all sorts of awards for your game and then seeing a fucking supermarket simulator made by 2 dudes obliterate your sequel. Hell, Manor Lords was just 1 fucking slav.

UnderRail
and there's a few other studios I can think of eastern Europeans will dominate the video gaming market because being a **** is unacceptable in their culture

Last I tried galaxy it didn't allow me to download the exes. I go to third party gog distributers to get my gog games. I tried to play gwent, it told me I couldn't play without galaxy.
You can still get the installers off the website, go to your account name > games > click on the downward arrow > view downloads.

Adventure 2 has chao garden, 06 does not.
I can't help but ponder what the Sonic 06 game would be like had the developers been able to fine tune everything with airing out all the bugs and glitches. For me it was the damned loading screens that really damaged the game. They need to stop rushing releases out by holidays and just release when its finished or surprise drop ala Beyonce.

Saddler was the dwarf lord, right? The one who felt guilty about what his ancestors did to the cult and decided to resurrect it?

Edit: wait, no, that was Salazar! My bad.

I don't like minecraft. It's an incredibly boring game with no real purpose or end game. I don't like the blocky building mechanic and for anything to look good you have to build it huge and stand back like it's 3d pixel art.

I'm not entirely sure how someone new to the game is even meant to figure it out since a huge number of things simply aren't discoverable in game without Google.

It's lauded as this masterpiece of gaming and I'm just sitting here confused by what others see in it.

Points to Disney that after Disney Infinity died they released the Gold editions of the games on Steam with all the toys to life portal stuff built in. Wish Activision would do that for the Skylanders games in a collection or something, but they just shut down a Modern Warfare mod so fuck old games I guess.
Yeah there's no way Activision would do that.

That's part of the story telling of early silent hill games. You play as an average person who isn't going to know how to fight well. You are meant to run from enemies and not kill everything. It's a limitation used as a story device, because tank controls made combat janky anyway, like how the fog made things scarier, but was used because of draw distance initially. Basically turned lemons into lemonade.
It's so interesting how these sort of limitations have led to amazing results sometimes.

Silent Hill's draw distance and jank controls, created the basis that almost every single indie horror game rips off gets inspired by today

the VHS filter used in a lot horror games is the same. Way to make it cheaper and more effective at the same time.

Hell, the whole "PS1 aesthetic" is like a new subgenre that zoomers are just finding out and appreciating. Not sure how unpopular of an opinion this is, but right now i feel "uncanny" is more effective than "grotesque" in the horror sphere.

Take the first zombie scene from Resident Evil:

Maybe it's because body horror is oversaturated in games right now, but i find the OG scene more disturbing than the remake's

Fallout 4 is fucking shite. It has no redeeming features, none. It's a miserable slog that would be ironically a better game if it was a miserable slog, but bethesda totally fuck up everything in the world and create a bland, messy, pointless, feelz4realz simulator that's so far detached from the base games that it may as well have been a new IP.

  • The intro is rushed. You should spend a few hours in your town/concord before the bombs fall because I just don't give a fuck that the town is gone.
  • I don't care about my wife or kid, so making the whole game about finding a kid ruins the experience.
  • You're forced to care for the sake of feels, whereas the other fallouts were about desperation, over-coming adversity and having to deal with a really shitty situation.
  • I hate the dog. fuck off and die and get the fuck away from under my feet and blocking doors.
  • Why is there a pristine, well-looked after german shephard knocking about in a nuclear wasteland?
  • "I don't know where concord is". It's that big fucking city, 200m away you fucking moron.
  • I don't care about preston gaycy or the minute men.
  • There's no order or rhyme or reason to the intro of the game; go to concord, then back home, then to some shack in the middle of nowhere, through a trainyard of ghouls to fight raiders living on a 5 story car plant or whatever, who have turrents and miniguns. Oh and do all this without going to a hub town first.
  • Try hard "zOMG!!! Powah ermer!! oh look deffclawww!! OMG such explosions much minigun".
  • No hub town.
  • The map is a littered mess and makes the whole place look dumb. You've had 200 years to move shit. I don't expect a New Vegas city, just clean the fucking roads for the caravans.
  • The gameplay and gunplay is more like Fall(out) of Duty.
  • None of the quests mean anything because every character is a generic-slop copy and paste of every other character. The BoS are no different from a raider.
  • Power armour needing power cores is fucking retarded.
Mods that remove your characters voice, give you alternative starts and force the Minutemen to shut up have always been very popular for FO4, which I find hilarious.

In typical Bethesda fashion you need mods to make it good and I believe most of your specific complaints have mods to fix them. Yes I know that's a cop-out and I'm a faggot, just saying it can be enjoyable after a lot of work.

Gaming media should go back to cartridges. Or, with modern technology, USB sticks or SD cards. Easier to store, less likely to be damaged over time, better loading times, more space. I'm willing to hear a counterargument.
The main issue I believe is cost. Cartridges are more expensive to produce than discs, enough to greatly affect pricing and distribution. This coupled with the massive rise of digital distribution makes cartridges in future very unlikely. Only Nintendo sticks to cartridges and I believe this is because they're less fragile (important when the main demographic is children) and Nintendo probably save enough money through their hardware's inferiority that they can afford to manufacture cartridges.

They're getting better at this but not perfect - the recipie book, ruined portals, etc. I get the complaint though.

What's funny to me is I don't mind Minecraft as a sandbox, but out me into something like GTA5 and I get bored pretty easy! Different strokes and that.

I have to be fair to Bethesda and say they make a fantastic sandbox and framework for a game, it's just the game they put in that sandbox is fucking terrible.

I was using mods, but then Bethesda released an update which broke the Mod framework, rendering a lot of mods unusable. Instead I've modded the carry weight and perk points to max out as much as I can, so that I can play the game as a bearded naked rampaging hobo with a machete.

Bethesda should concentrate on the foundation and structure of a game, then hire Obsidian to make the story and characters.

Zeldafags don't know what they want.

I really wonder how BOTW and TOTK will age. BOTW will never be a black sheep but I do think time wont be so kind to the lack of dungeons and items to collect.

I did like WW at release, although didn't finish it for like 2 decades lol, but the issue I guess was all the hype they let build with that GC tech demo and then saying nothing about the toon style really until close to release.

I still can't do TP because of those first few hours, I've done them to varying degrees like 6 times now and they're SUCH a slog.

I'll tell you what I do want though, Miyamoto - something like the Oracles. Sadly I doubt Capcom could be trusted again.

If the Hero of Time had plucked the Master Sword from its pedestal when BOTW came out, he would have woken from his coma six months ago :story:
You get out of here with your puns!

ToTK is alt-universe anyway - real fans know after BOTW, Zelda went back onto the N64.

(That video is pretty cool if you haven't seen it, it's like a late 90s zelda fans wet dream as OoT DLC, but all on real hardware, entered by using an arbitrary code execution and controller inputs)
