That's always the lie. Consistently, across different decades and different countries, those reasons only ever account for a tiny fraction of abortion, while purely elective abortion always comes out around 95%.



(The lowest % I've found for elective abortions was one study in the UK, that had it down to 92%. They got there by adding more physical and "mental health" reason categories.)

If you ever want to blow out one of these sob story abortion advocates, propose a compromise to them: no abortions, except for cases of physical safety, rape, or incest; all others cases get denied abortions. They drop the mask of caring real quick to lecture you.

Being religious has made the abortion issue easy for me. Outside of extreme .0001% circumstances that already are accepted in law, you just don't, because you're killing a child of God. A few years ago, I stumbled upon this video of a young woman being asked why she's Christian. She gave the best answer ever, and articulated it so perfectly, and I'm kicking myself over the fact that I can't find the video again.

I'll never be able to word it as eloquently and as perfectly as she did, but here was the gist of what she said:

She said that she's a Christian because Christianity follows an absolute code of morals and ethics, and that there are objective rights and wrongs/goods and evils. Christianity helps guide people towards what's right, when society wants to keep redefining and morphing the definitions of what's right.

Kind of reminds me of my absolute favorite quote by any author ever, too:
