Getting banned from the Linux Graphics community: not recommended if you want to be writing a Wayland compositor.

The dev just went and said "im going to fix my shit without your help or the help of you troons friends fag"
It's ironic because i think hyprland is one of the best documented DIY projects in the linux space.
Aquamarine so far works fine for me(i build it for myself on debian). I don't really have aquamarine specific issues.

It would be funny if in the near future everyone who wants to develop his own compositor from scratch he flocks in some hyprland related wiki.

This completely unlike FDO which has ASS TIER documentation.

Who coulda known that being gatekeepy could hinder your growth.

It feels those over-institutionalized organizations like FDO or whatever Red Hat touches are becoming more and more oligarchic. Which is perfectly in line with big companies who couldn't care less about open source and only care about doing it their way and nobody interfering.

Shows again how shitlibs become useful idiots for bigcorp.

Unsure what you mean with FDO, but compared to Aquamarine, which is hardly documented at all; wlroot has at least medicore-ish developer documentation. Combined with those tutorial blogposts on how to use wlroots from Drew a competent developer should be able to write a wayland compositor without having to dig through a bunch of sources.

I can name pipewire as being super underdocumented, and most of their specifications (excluding wayland which is mostly fine) sucking. That's usually because they pick up a random already used, poorly thought out one from KDE or Gnome though.

These are people who think the problem with everything is that there aren't enough rules and coercion. Something failed? Something sucks? Obviously there weren't enough rules and they weren't enforced strictly enough.

They like massive corporations because those are their ideal social structure, the problem is that they don't have enough of a monopoly. There should be only one. See, more lack of rules and coercion.

If Hector got it wrong here, I'm surprised people aren't more skeptical of his technical abilities.
Looks like it was completely wrong. the commit in question seems to imply the problem was aquamarine assuming every GPU driver supports at least a cursor plane, which asahi does not.
I would defend Hector by saying its not his codebase and its reasonable not to immediately find the problem, but he certainly doesn't need defending.

Misc links: hyprland issue, asahi issue

Noooo developer child, you don't understand, he was wrong on purpose because an upstanding ally can't give an alt right nazi chud real hints on how to fix his software and that's a GOOD thing for the user. By throwing out a complete red herring he successfully wasted 2 hours of time Vaxry would otherwise have spent murdering trannies or something.

So to summarize, Troon bans programmer because of political reason. Troon software thingy stops working. Banned programmer fixes it anyway? Is this correctly understood?
Troon bans programmer because of political reason. Programmer's software stops working in some specific conditions. Troon mocks programmer. Programmer fixes it anyway.

vaxry truly is the definition of "i don't need to gloat that I'm a better dev then you, because i sit down and do work instead of wasting my time crying on twitter."
if i ever meet that man irl, I'm buying him a beer, cause legends like him deserve one.
