It meshes because the FDA is a garbage organization full of oligopoly lobbyists. Cutting it down means less lobbying and more focusing on actual important things like making sure food is good and less covering up for medical mistakes and hoarding patents to profit from scarcity.

It's the same mistake people make with the Department of Education where they think more money = better. All the money in the world means nothing if it isn't spent wisely, and the DoE has balooned over the decades to the point the USA spends more per student than Switzerland despite having atrocious results more like 3rd world countries in most states.
