I had read viewership was done. So what I assume happened is they decided to make up there was a special guest. Leak it to various sources. Put out suggestions or hints as to who it was. Then tried to get someone at the last minute and no one took the offer. If we ever find out the truth, I bet it involves them desperately trying to get someone even after the start of the days convention.

That seems far more likely than Beyonce or someone pulling out at the last second. They're also mean-spirited assholes. They would leak and shame someone for doing that.
