Not Just Bikes / r/fuckcars / Urbanists / New Urbanism / Car-Free / Anti-Car - People and grifters who hate personal transport, freedom, cars, roads, suburbs, and are obsessed with city planning and urban design

Then again when it comes to correctly estimating prices of owning a vehicle they've never been genuine about it.
City ghouls in NYC & Boston couldn't believe my SUV from 2008 cost me $3600 during covid. No issues besides some rust on the bottom that won't be an issue until the 2030s provided I take care of the vehicle.
I didn't even need it, I just wanted another car and have the garage space.
Have fun getting shanked by Jamal in the subway or getting run over by Pedro the illegal, bike cucks.

Cars have made the outdoors unsafe for kids and teens. What if we replaced parking lots with ...jpeg
Make sure to look at the picture, it's absolutely insane.
This is provably retarded and never works.
Third world countries are full of commie shit like this. In Mexico City alone they have dozens of "community parks" that feature shit like this.
They always end up as flithy (because no one in the community wants to clean them for everyone else) drug dealer spots and gang hangouts once the sun goes down, and usually even before then.

The only place this could maybe work is in a Swiss town with high homogeneous monoculture and trust. Not in the West.
And even they'd get tired of stocking the pantry for little shits to pillage.

"Radical thought?" It's straight up commie wank.

Yards should be removed and be replaced with convenience stores. Kids can play on the sidewalks in front of them:
Like in every third world shithole...
Jeez, they're not even subtle on how much they hate Western prosperity.

Things they have also not been genuine about:
- Commute times
- Times it takes to the grocery store
- Induced demand
- Which parts of town really pushes the economy
- Land use & land value
- Taxing
- History of cities and transit

can someone explain the whole third place thing to me? from what I understand it means a place that isn't home or work
It's quite simple really:
It's the argument that urban density results in there being more places to socialise, but dressed up in more academic terms in order to appear more legitimate and disguise the fact that the vast majority of those places are bars.

Libraries and parks are defacto homeless shelters
What they really want is to live in a high trust society like Japan or Northern Europe. But instead what they're living in is what we have now.

The funny thing is it's not like leftist cities haven't tried something like this already, it's just that these "third places" become awful because they're full of drug addicts and other undesirables like Seattle. And privatization of parks like in New York conversely have worked well to resolve those same issues.

Of course, none of this is an issue in the suburbs.
For the kids on fuckcars who live with their parents (and by extension the manchildren who do as well) it would do them well to actually just talk with their neighbors. I fundamentally believe that people were not meant to socialize in anything larger than a small community. Having more people beyond your social circle means you can't form meaningful relationships with them. The problem IS the density.

Their third space thing is just a cope. Try going to any place like a library or park in New York and try to talk with someone. They might talk to you for a little while, but eventually want to end the conversation and do their own thing.

They will also refuse to join any "third place" like a church, because they don't want to join any organization where the goal of the organizers isn't to groom and fuck them.

Unfortunately, in my case, yes.
You need to start finding better people to hang out with.

This is basically CHAZ. Or at least what it would have become on a long enough timeline.

This is huge and should be in 20pt font, bolded. Cities are not filled with friendly people now. You're just alone in a crowd.

Does the last nigger think Europeans chose to raise kids in cities? Anyone who can moves to a single family home outside the city for their family. Anyone who can't will complain about how shite the city is, from the schools being overly enriched by kids who don't speak the local language and supplement it with knives, to the parks being infested by drug dealers, and the streets being unsafe.
Some cities are better than others, but really, give people the choice between raising their child in the inner city in a commie block or in a single family home a bit more outside, they'll pick the latter.

/edit: not that it can't work. The city I live in does have very nice, big parks and such. For a city with over a million people, its very livable. It's also very expensive and in one of the most Conservative German states. It's pretty high trust still, despite being pretty diverse. But it's getting worse, and the city is pretty much bankrupt.

Whenever utopian idealists refer to "community spaces", what they really mean is a service that they expect somebody else in the community to volunteer and provide for free, rather than a reciprocal relationship between neighbors. They never talk about how normal members benefit, only how thankless fringe minority groups can be better served by others.

not to mention that, in my part of the world least, it's a lot cheaper to live in one of the neighbouring districts than in the city itself

Cars are the reason why pedos are able to kidnap kids:
If pedos don't have cars they will just kidnap kids in more subtle ways, e.g. gaining trust of victims through online grooming. It's retarded to think pedophiles will just stay still and not change their approach in response to anti-car measures.

Do they not realize Amber alerts are 99.999% custody dispute between spouses where usually the husband is 10-20 minutes late in dropping off little Timmy to the mother?

"Private sex/drug lounge" is unfortunately exactly what they want.

it's somehow fitting that they're quoting someone who is if not an actual nonce, then is very sympathetic to nonces - your man is an open supporter of NAMBLA
he's also tangentially related to Patrick S. "Enjoy Prison" Tomlinson in that he's a one-time Grand Master of the SFWA, whose legal fund was single-handedly bled dry by Tomlinson

Times Square Red, Times Square Blue is one of the more fringe urbanist books and it makes sense why a deranged tranny would be promoting it (and that paragraph) but NJB's collaboration seems like an endorsement of that video. If I was making a collaboration like that and attached my name to it I would either make sure to scrub that shit or make it clear that I don't endorse everything my mentally warped colleague is promoting.

Jason is of course smart enough to keep his mouth shut when it comes to something like De Wallen, you KNOW that he probably thinks something like that is "integral to the urban fabric" but thinks that would probably scare off most of the cattle.
