Two 8-month-old pit bulls that were loose in Nanaimo attacked several children, severely injuring at least one. Other people that came to aid the children were also injured.

The children were playing in a yard at the house of one of their friends. The dogs were from somewhere else in the neighborhood and had been cited for being at large previously.

One of the owners of the dogs came and got the dogs but did not stick around. The news interviewed the other owner, a Dangerhair that looked to be in her late 40s or early 50s. While she was devastated at what her dogs had done, she said to the reporter, "People are saying, look at this from the prospective of a parent, well, these dogs are my kids, too," and then she broke down crying.

It was later reported both dogs were euthanized, as there have been other incidents prior to this one, and due to the severity of the injuries the one particular child sustained.

To the dangerhair dog owner I would have to say, "If these dogs were your KIDS, you did a lousy job of raising them. Thank heavens you didn't spawn any of your own."

Dude, what is it with vets lately being absolutely retarded at/refusing to do their jobs? We're looking around for a different clinic because the one we frequented for years now has doctors who just will not handle rowdy/hissy cats despite having one of those fucking handling gloves for such occasions. "Oh, I'm more cautious now because I've been scratched and bitten so badly before", bitch that's the occupational hazard you agreed to. You and another handler need to squish down my antsy cat to treat her so we can know what's going on with her. Can't imagine how they treat dogs if they're going to cower over a tiny cat.
maybe they should invest in one of these

I'll gladly drive an hour away each time for a smarter vet
I had a similar, but not so extreme, experience with my long-time vet with my cat decades ago. I drive 30 minutes to a far superior vet, it's super busy and always takes half a day to be seen (because they're so good people do drive two hours to see them), but I'll never go anywhere else.

I'm so incredibly happy for you and your puppers. Words can't express how happy I am for you both.

Dog is now fully recovered. My vet was retarded. Took him to another vet and he got treated for sepsis. He was foaming at the mouth because he was so nauseous, not because he had fucking rabies. Took him about a week to recover. Never going to my original vet again. I'll gladly drive an hour away each time for a smarter vet. I forgot how full of life he could be. Seeing him bounce around the room today like he was never ill was a shock.

I'm glad to hear that bro but I'm super sorry the first vet was such a dumbass. That's a SERIOUS mistake that could have had a bad outcome, I'd drive too jesus.

Again though glad to hear the little dude is okay..

I'm actually curious as to how many clinics are becoming more cautious about pitbulls, thinking about it. There's no way they can behave and be looked at safely unless they're super-duper ill/incapacitated.
That makes me wonder as well. Considering that they must surely see enough horrific pet injuries and emergencies from whenever a pitbull pops off, it must hopefully make the more sane ones think. I know it does EMTs and emergency physicians whenever they have to treat human victims of these dogs.

They are truly the Russian Roulette of dogs, you might get a 'bad' one at the start or the 'good' you thought was 'safe' (and had been 'safe' for years) and it somehow just might get randomly 'triggered' at some point into attacking you or another pet, even pitbulls that are seniors.

'He never did that before,' well before that every roll of the bullet chamber just happened to stop at an empty slot when the trigger got pulled, this time there was a live round in it and the dog went off. Each pitbull has an unknown number of 'live rounds' in it and one doesn't know which slots are loaded. One really takes a chance with these dogs and it's often taken on faith and hope that these dogs won't obey their centuries-bred-in violent tendencies.

All these deaths regularly(not rarely, uncommonly, once in a blue moon, almost everyday) and not a single call of a politician, organized protest, or anything to get them banned
They're banned in England. Which shouldn't be a surprise, as everything is banned here. The funny part is, those who still have a Bully, do it out of some misguided love and pride "My dog would never harm anyone", says the 22 year old tiktok slag before her dogs ate and raped her to death.
Or like that 53 year old mentioned up page, or the 64 year old council scrote who was killed by her dogs. Many such cases.

What absolute bullshit. Last weekend I watched a friend armed only with a towel gently capture a wild-ass, stressed out, injured hawk with talons long enough to pierce all the way through a person's hand.

But a vet, trained in animal handling with all the appropriate gear can't deal with a domestic cat? Naw, fuck that vet.

Dog is now fully recovered.
Fantastic news, I've been keeping an extra close eye on the thread hoping for a positive update. :heart-full:
I know going off topic is bad, but I like hearing everyone's stories about their pets, or their friends pets from time to time. Godbear knows a thread like this needs some occasional heartwarming posts, considering the usual content.

On topic: the two houses that were home to 5+ pibbles each are still vacant of the dogs. Fingers still crossed that I don't step out one day to see a pack of them in my field eating a deer or some other wildlife. Low key hoping they all snapped and murderized each other, lol.

This thread is fantastic peaking material.

When I was younger and retarded and naive, was living in a bad neighborhood with loose dogs running all over the place.
Didn’t believe that pit bulls were bad or could be dangerous because again, young and dumb.

Almost hit two pit bulls that ran out in front of my car, parked immediately and went out to check on them and hopefully chase them out of the street.

Never ever have I felt real fear with a dog before, deep “oh fuck here we go” fear because the bigger one hunched and tensed and lowered his head and started snarling at me.
They’re very scary dogs that close up, and knew I was in danger.
Backed away very very slowly not making eye contact or turning my back until I was shut back into my car.

Later that same day one of those pit bulls attacked a lady walking with a stroller, pretty sure no one died, but that taught me a valuable lesson about helping random stray dogs and most especially helping pit bulls.

God gave you a chance to do good and you didn't heed it.

Although hitting a pit bull with your car would probably total it and it still wouldn't kill the beast.

I did call animal control on the dogs, but loose pitbulls in that area is like seeing a hooker on the main drag, least of their concerns.

Should have just shot them and drove away.
I conceal carry, bur not for dogs (unless they’re 99% likely to attack).

The last thing I need is some urban scholar hooting and screaming that I killed his dog mayun and having to deal with that.

Pretty sure they got euthanized at the shelter after getting picked up by animal control for being aggressive though, so there’s that.

Thankfully I’m not burdened with being the vengeful hand of God

Pitbulls are a major reason I carry at all, and I can't trust that they won't attack at all. I see one, I assume I'm in imminent danger of being attacked...and that assumption is correct.

In the words of BILLY MAYS: "JUST PULL THE TRIGGER, AND WALK AWAY!"

Unfortunately, the odds of that are low.

It's nothing that serious, it's just pest control.
