I'm particularly interested in what you mean by a mass surveillance apparatus, as that's funny as fuck if true.

Sure, some of these we know about because they're bypassed by Marseyloader, the injector / patcher launcher you can find at RobustToolbox.com.

1) Discord Rich Presence is used by them to try and find alts.
2) Auth in general tells them every server a client connects to, rather than granting a temporary token. PJB dismissed people talking about this as "privacy nuts."

3) Unconfirmed, but it's been claimed that they used the auth IP logs for stuff like trying to track down Skye back when they were trying to ratfuck their furry porn game.
4) They very obviously have socks in every adjacent server listening for keywords, as they have an uncanny ability that puts Derek Smart / Jonathan Blow to shame to appear as soon as they are mentioned for an amicable server, or screenshot and add to a dossier for somewhere they are more intimidated.
5) Speaking of dossiers, if you go back to the Nyanotrasen dehubbing post you can see they have dossiers (well, collections of out-of-context screenshots) on everyone they dislike to the point they apologized for the first PDF they uploaded because this was a preexisting dossier they had on Daemon and not really relevant. This contributes quite a lot to everyone being a bit on edge because at any moment they can drop a dossier of 20 times you were a chud or something and then purge you. This happened this year to one of their fucking project managers of all people who wrote hundreds and hundreds of core engine PRs. moonheart08 github has been inactive since they were purged.
6) Also from the Nyano dehubbing, PJB proudly linked a 2 hour voice chat recording they recorded on an alt and hand transcribed. (archive) They permanently banned anyone who said "retard" too much in voice chat.
7) Back during a strike on Goob Station, they shook down the host (Kira) and accused him of being a member of Rane Ranch (the guy who made Nyanotrasen's personal server) secretly, which is where they believe all dissent comes from.

8) Tangential to above and not quite "surveillance", but people are constantly accused of being Rane's alt.

@MAAAD the thread schizo was a problem for more than months, It had been going on for years at this point. its concerning how long a single person dedicated so much time to ruining a general thread. However this game tends to attract the elite class of autists to play and inhabit

  1. How do I change maps on localhost? It defaults to Admin Room and I wanted to launch Riviera to do some additional testing.
  2. May I have wiki editing privileges? I could bug @HahaYes btw DM me plox every time a change to wiki is needed but it would be easier to just edit the inconsistencies myself as I notice them.
  3. Post ss13_notes.txt please.
And a bug & feature report to boot (I'll try to tackle some of these issues myself):
  • None of the R&D machinery is linked to their respective consoles roundstart;
  • A small typo in the gamemode vote: "Ai malfunction";
  • The cargo crate scanner should be printable in Autholathe;
  • Shaft miners don't have a cargo clearing PIN in their memory;
  • A paper containing cargo clearing PIN should spawn in the QM's office because currently supply orders are unavailable without any actual Cargo staff on board;
  • How do you even know when to use the ore detector? It's the mining tool used to locate ores underground in order to find a sweet spot for the giant industrial drill. I tried to scan randomly in many spots on the Asteroid but couldn't find anything even once;
  • Several airlock sounds are missing: access denied, screwing/unscrewing, cutting/pulsing wires, bolts dropping;
  • Deathsquad's Death Ripley sprites permanently revert to regular Ripley sprites upon entering (although its wreckage has a correct sprite);
  • Death Ripley's "the KILL CLAMP" does no damage;
  • Some items need unique sprites: underslung grenade launcher, welding tool variants (industrial, upgraded, experimental);
  • Maybe add unique sprites for signal Glock and double-barrel too?..
  • How do you attach/detach the underbarrel launcher to a gun anyway?
  • Blob could create spore factories to make the struggle against it more interesting (the blob spores are already in the code);
  • Incendiary grenades don't ignite on activation, they simply spill fuel instead;
  • Clusterbangs are broken (none of their clusters spawn);
  • Potato battery and charged slime core should be buffed - the former from 300W to 5000W or 7500W, the latter from 10000W to 50000W - since 300W (even less charge than that garbage AA power cell) is just useless and 10000W (the wattage of high-capacity cells) is way too little for the time spent getting that core;
  • There exists a fully functioning but unimplemented "sheet snatcher" aka a bag for holding material sheets. Maybe map it in for engies and, more importantly, miners to use?

The codebase comes from long before the times of runtime maploading being a standard. You can switch maps by swapping which maps are ticked in the .dme. Through a text editor, you can do this by manually appending the .dmm files of the map you want to the end of the .dme. Through DreamMaker, you can simply tick the box next to the .dmm files you want to load. Through VSCode, the DM language server puts a ticked/unticked button at the very bottom right.

In this case, you'll want to untick matrix_armory.dmm, and tick exodus-1.dmm, exodus-2.dmm, exodus-3.dmm, exodus-4.dmm, exodus-5.dmm, and exodus-6.dmm.
Yes, you have to recompile for this to take effect, too. Though that probably goes without saying.

These are low priority but reasonable

I am going to switch it to cargo access instead, to be more like the other departments contract thingies, it seems to work okay for them (the cargo one was the first so others are more refined)

Its useless currently until more mining stuff gets backported, bay was using it for some archeology stuff I think which I elected to not keep

Only the Z8 has this and its integral so you dont remove it

yea not sure whats wrong with those they are weird, they aren't really in use so they have been ignored, some level of fire rework is also still needed

@geckogoy I made a few PRs earlier today, please review them before launch. They've all been tested, also I promise I'll actually rename the commits next time :)
And two more important bugs I found:
  • Batongs stay enabled when reaching exactly 0 charge, allowing for a freebie hit before actually turning itself off. For example: you have a stunprod consuming 2500W on hit equipped with a 5000W cell, you'd think you can only use it twice since it'd reach exactly 0W after the second hit, but when testing I found that you can prod a dummy for a third time because the prod seemingly needs to reach "negative" charge for it to automatically turn off;
  • WOOP WOOP YOU CAN'T EXAMINE SHIT WHEN INSIDE OF AN EXOSUIT

Not gonna lie, I actually like that batongs aren't one hit stuns like on /vg/ or that cuffs require a grab first. It does a good job to make Security players more robust.

Yes. It's a very dated location, akin to Prison Station (old permabrig used to be its own mini-station).

holy moly that is a blast from the past, i actually vaguely remember the weird goo trapped behind the glass in that one room and stuff (no recollection of what it was for) you are a hero im pretty sure that is what i was thinking of

yeah we need to figure out where that was from and restore that, i think it was probably gibbed from the sprites in the video

if we ever go over the single-server population margin you can punt people to other servers easily, so my thought was have several stations that get load-balanced and if you really need to you can fly between them, so that if two people want to play together one can just fly to the other's station by getting on a shuttle. zeta sounds pretty perfect for that, and in the meantime it could become a z-level

It's most likely Goonstation, by the looks of it. You can check out the other vids on that channel just to make sure though.

gibbed was at a minimum goon-adjacent to my memory but you may be right (servers on the hub calling themselves 'goonstation' came a while after gibbed first appeared)

Opening a box without requiring you to drag it directly onto your sprite, what would that take? I could see that being a small point of frustration if you need to fumble around with a box in a dire situation.

Alt+left click takes the first item out automatically.
 
Wrapping back to MSO in particular: he's already made a prior prominent appearance in SS14 drama by proclaiming that he will hardfork SS14 as a whole under a condition that has successfully been met (Archive). He's never followed through on that promise. Maybe dehubbing AGPL servers would be what finally pushes MSO to finally create TG14! That'd be a hell of a sight to behold.
MSO is a lolcow without a thread I can think of a few things:
1) Sued Colonial Marines IRL over AGPL
2) Sued ASHEN SKY IRL over AGPL
3) Sued another russian server IRL I think

the /vg/ server dying is tragic. I played on that server constantly a year or so back and wanted to get back into it lately with that place, but jannies let a single ai spammer kill the thread. Fuck jannies. The station they were spam advertising didn't have any players either, it was just a perma 0-2 playcount server that had a 'forum' connected to it. I checked the forum at one point and it's just a sharty style 4chan clone where they only ever talk about the best ways to spam the thread or share AI images/links to spam. Fuck jannies.
