Reddit is just textboxes of people fighting over the topic. But if I had to nail it down to a few reasons:
- It's Inherently degenerate. A normal romance is building up to something with a partner, even intimate relationships. NTR is wanting to see someone you love degenerate with someone else, being a cuck essentially.
-Cucks like the shame it brings. Most material switches back between female and male POV. Female is seeing the relationship change and degenerate and male pov that has the shame and excitement of it all.
-That then leads into the shame as the girl you love has been taken away and you could have done something about it. Cucks thrive off the degeneracy but often have trouble accepting they've lost the girl. An example would be Reikita hotwifeing with another couple and she eventually lives with Reikita before his arrest. That guy then files for divorce. That's how this often goes in real life.

There's many aspects to the fetish but it can be boiled down into laughing at cucks for being pathetic.

Side note: Took a look at Nutaku's front store and it was nothing but lewd gachas. Most of the titles are like those Chinese waifu shovelware titles that get dumped on steam only with gacha mechanics, meaning you're waiting on every action and have to spend real money to speed it up. No thanks.

EroLabs is the same thing. There's only ONE game from that place that I like and it's a shump (Star Lust), but the gacha mechanics and limited energy REALLY ruin it. Technically you're supposed to use a team, but you can solo it with one girl and just keep raiding for the upgrade items.... but again, the mobage shit grinds it to a halt.

Had an ex who would play claires quest, she liked some of the stuff, so now it just sits in my library and I forget about it until the devs actaully remember to update it.

Another one is her new memory, and its a bit of a silly game, but its more of those I guess wholesome ones? You can marry the girl and start a family

I feel like there's probably some adult games out there i'd enjoy. Surely at this point, they must've made some good ones. Same reason I read "adult" manga: I wanna see fucking romance and LIFE itself play out past graduating high school or fucking the entire cheerleader team.

A simple "Persona"-like time management game where you got a side hoe and you can romance and date and eventually bang tastefully or whatever. Move together and shit. Sims but visual novel and a lot simpler. Nah, we need an "all-crippled" gangbang ntr high school!

I am the same as you maybe even worse. I am 24 and the high school shit just does not do it for me. It also limits the heroines a lot it's hard to do a complex character when it's a teen with 0 life experience.

I refuse to play any vn in high school.

I think it's a natural double-down on being a loser; to fetishize it. Finally land a chick and half the deal is "I wanna fuck Chad and you have to watch". To reference aforementioned double-down, I consider myself short of a failure and thus also fetishize being washed up. ie. that one manga with the salaryman smoking behind a generic convenience store, chatting up some employee who's equally doomeristic about her prospects. Or that one manga (sing yesterday to me? or something) about a washed up loser who's biggest ambitions are getting photos up at an exhibit.

School has this unique vibe to it. You could be studying literal unemployment, but you're still in school, so who knows where you'll end up. It's a mystery. Then you graduate and realize life sucks and youll never amount to anything, and your lack of employment and funds can put a very real numeric value to your value, which is depressing, why we won't see it in a feelgood manga. I mean look at BNHA: Dude becomes a literal wage cuck. The world moves on without him. Tough shit. You're a has-been and your friends rather hang out with peers than you.

Ironically Clannad is the closest I've seen to a "real life" post-graduation setting but it's absurdly depressing so fuck that. I've seen a few hentais I guess, who're about a graduate moving back home cause his career flunked. He finds an even bigger flunk from his high school and pump her full. So now you got two doting nobodies in a small town and they're happy about each other and nothing else. That's what I want in a game. A story, likely "giving up and moving back home", or generally just being about a modest life and realistic albeit "too good to happen" scenarios. Idfk. I just wish porn games weren't asset flips about bald bastards.

Its embarassing to post on this thread but I really liked this new thing I found on gog called Futanari de Funghi. It gave me a huge dose of nostalgia for the times I played Snowy Lunch Rush and Diner Dash online. Its a bit unoptimized and lacks great gameplay but the fact that its a time management diner simulator game in 2024 made me happy.
